Undisturbed water? I am confident that disturbed water has not been a problem with any inboard boat that I know of. Nor do I think that anything under our boats gives us any significant protection from debris. The tracking fins are for tracking, not for debris protection.

They are going to sell some of these. I don't think they are poised to take over, but these will take some buyers. The biggest selling point will be when the bryant sales guy says, have you ever tried to back up in an inboard?

Why wouldn't you just by a used 230 or 210 for the same price? **** in a year or two you could get a G for that.

You can buy a nice nautique (or other inboard of choice) for that price. Why risk it?

Their primary market will be those that are "boating ignorant" - that is my hunch. The people you will see in this boat are impulse boat buyers, not someone who did a bunch of research and test drove or suffered a bunch of boats.

Inboards boats are still a pretty niche market. If you go to a major boat dealer you will almost always be looking at I/O's. You have to know what you want out of a boat before you start getting into inboards.

BrennanK is spot on. To the purest (regardless of skill level) an I/O seems like buying a mini van. No matter how sporty or how well equipped it's still a mini van. But mini vans out sell Vetts and Cobras and Raptors and all cars designed to do one or two things really well by a 1000 to 1 or more.

To the average joe boat buyer this is going to look super cool "the best of both worlds." The price maybe the kicker the average joe boat buyer is not going to drop 80 G's on a boat, but if they get that system into a more affordable boat I bet they sell at a pretty good clip. I/O owners (those that don't know any better) probably only know that they can't surf because it's to dangerous.

We "purest" forget that we are a small market of boat buyers (much bigger then it was 20 years ago or even 10 years ago)

I doubt few if any DD/VD owners will be making the switch (unless they already think they bought the wrong boat because you can't steer it in reverse) and I doubt that's who they will be marketing.

100% agree. No serious towed sports enthusiast has any interest in an I/O. I still get a chuckle when I see a ZO-equipped I/O. Like putting a set of P Zero's on that minivan.
