It'll be at the limit 7500-8000lbs range. A loaded G23 is 8-9000lbs with the trailer.

G21 dry weight is 5200 lbs, you are adding an additional 2000 - 3000 lbs?

Well test drive a nice Tahoe today and the salesman made a mistake on towing capacity. At first he said 8600 lbs then he said 5200 lbs because it had the wrong tranny. Too bad, it was a nice Tahoe.

Not sure what year Tahoe you were looking at however it looks like a 2007 Tahoe can tow up to 8,500 lbs.

The gearing and tow package really matter on the tow capacity. You don't want anything with the standard 3.08 gearing. It's awful.

How far are you towing and what is the terrain like? That will be more of a deciding factor. The Tahoe can handle the G21. It just needs to be equipped correctly. At minimal you'll want 3.73 gears. But best would be the 4.08. What year Tahoe are you looking at? There was a huge transmission change and that also plays a huge factor. 07-08 was the 4 speed. Absolutely garbage for any long distance towing. 09 got the 6 speed. Much better.

I would swap over to the Yukon and go Denali with the 6.0l engine. Will give you the added umff over the Tahoe.

Dry weight. Add at least another 2000 for the trailer, gas, fluids, gear and kids.

My wife has got to drive this car. Going to a suburban may be too big. The 3.08 tranny on the Tahoe has a capacity of only 5200 lbs. The 3.52 tranny I think goes to 8600 lbs.

Adding an additional 2000 lbs to the G21's dry weight is a bit much, IMO

Afun, at least 2000. 2500 would be more accurate, fully loaded up and Heading to the lake. Dry weight is not a single option, not a single drop of any fluid, no gear, trailer and the smallest engine.

Guys who have ran their G23s over scales have shown 8-8300lbs. Mine with a big stereo and regular gear is 8800 range. That is not counting the 300lbs lead I also keep during the season in there. What a couple hundred pounds difference between a G21 and G23?

I used to tow my g23 with a 2012 Yukon Denali. Although it has more power it sure drank the gas at 7mpg on the hwy.

Mine weighs 9300ish range with the additional weight of the triple axel and 8" tube frame
and the lead I keep in there in the summer.

The Tundra tows it fairly well, drinks 7mpg at 70mph on flat ground.

I hooked mine up to my wife's and it is unbelievable how small the GMC Denali Yukon XL looks with the G23 behind it. But it will pull it.

Oh my god I know it looks so tiny. We towed ours all the way from Tampa, FL to Lake Keowee in SC without a problem though. Transmission did get a little hot if we hit 70mph though.
