    Replacing carpet

The carpet in my 206 is flat, and I'd like to replace it. I'd love to just do the floor, and not have to change out the motor box, gunnels etc, but I cant seem to find anything that matches. I thought that gunmetal grey was pretty standard, but there are a lot of variations of gray. I've tried samples from Nautique parts, Christines, and several other places. The guy that I trust to do this sort of work for me says that getting the motor box covered without wrinkles is a real job. Has anyone paid to have their carpet replaced recently, and mind sharing the cost with me? The price he gave me was more than I expected.

We had the carpet professionally cleaned last year and it helped for a while, but by mid summer it was flat again.

I am very interested in the answers to NCH2oSki questions. I have a 1999 Ski Nautique Open Bow and would like to replace the carpet soon. Thanks!

I don't think new carpet will stay plush much longer than a freshly cleaned used one. Certainly not enough to justify the time and expense of replacing it if it's in good shape otherwise. I've done 4 boats, it's a big job- and it takes a bit of skill and a lot of effort to make it look good.

You need some carpet runners. Ordered mine with the boat, 10 years later carpet and runners both are still in great shape.

On the 206 it's 3 pieces, look closely you can see 1 piece at the helm floor and another for the walk thru area.

No idea if they are still around, this is the manufacturer tag on the mats.

I like that idea, called the number and its no longer in service, and Google search wasn't productive. I sent the photo to my guy at Viper Customs to see if he can cut and edge the carpet similar to the photo. I'll let you guys know what he says.

Looks like they have the pattern for the 206, this may be the same thing that Quinner was referring to, and seems like a very viable option. I contacted them for some samples and requested pricing on the mat. Thanks!!!

depending on the material used it would be $750-825.00 plus freight. I can get the entire carpet replaced throughout the boat for the same price, so I'm going that route if I keep her this year.

BTW They never responded to my initial email, but where quite helpful after I called them.

That's a lot more than I assumed. I may just buy Nautique carpet and cut my own matts on the cheap. Thanks for digging up the price!

What are you thinking about doing for the edges? Thats the only thing that I think Corinthian offers that I cant do at home.

Do you not think a local upholster could not take some kind of fabric ribbon and form a "U" and use their industrial sewing machines to edge the carpet to keep it from fraying? The carpet may not be as durable, but I would think it would be a lot cheaper.

If they are doing them like mine the underside is rubber with nibs throughout so they stay in place, like a high quality mat would have. 8 Hundo seems a bit stiff for a new set, wow.
