    trailer swap. 2001 - 210 SSN to 2005 206 air.

wanted to see if anyone could give me some input on a trailer swap on a 2001 210 to a 2005 206.
I ask because i am looking at a 206 but the trailer will not work because it is an A-frame at the front, thus it can not be removed.
I have the standard late 90s early 2000 Ram-Lin with the bow catch that can be moved to fit a SSN/SAN or a SKI/Sport.

    thanks for any input.

I have never seen a ramlin that could be adjusted to accommodate either a direct drive or a v-drive. I believe they are/were only adjustable to accommodate different length boats with the same powertrain layout. V-drive vs direct drive will usually dictate a significant difference in axle placement.

I am sure the 18 to 24 inch adjustment for the bow stop will work for the wight shift from Back to Mid ship.
I root questions is will a 206 work well with just the FLAT side boards and ONLY those. NO center catch that keep it in the middle, no bow V below NEAR window line on the trailer.
Just the PLAN BLACK TRAILER with PLAN FLAT 18 foot Carpet, wood, and just 3 by 1 foot bow stops.

18-24" of Bowstop adjustment is extreme. The dd ramlins I have seen did not have that much adjustability. I am curious how such a trailer would accommodate 2 different ~21' boats with vastly different COG's... 18-24" of Bowstop movement would be needed to keep the tongue weight in check- does one configuration have the boat hanging 2' beyond the bunks? I haven't seen a cc trailer set up this way since MY 1983. Or is there 2' of extra bunk extending past the stern of a V-drive? Seems the prop guard wouldn't be much use.

Something doesn't add up. Id be amazed if the dd and vd trailers are interchangeable.

I found this, and this is my same setup...
          http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/m...tml?1266357512
But it looks like this one is LONGER behind the wheels (IE giving rear protection)

So it makes me think they will not match up prefect. but they KIND of will work.... (not correcly)

The first trailer is a Prestige, not a ramlin. I'm not sure what you are seeing in those pictures that proves a point either way. The v-drive and direct drive trailers look similar but have very different axle placement due to the rearward weight bias of the v-drive.

Some direct drive trailers were adjustable to accommodate different length boats (196/206, for example). Depending on tongue/bowstop set up, it is normal to see the bunks with 3" or so of the transom in either direction.

The trailer for the older V drive will not tow well with the 206 on it. I would think it will have a lot of tongue weight, since the axle will be well behind the motor. I think the 206 hull will probably sit on the wishbone trailer fine, but towing will be the issue.

Could you have the 206 trailer fitted with a swing away coupler? http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Coup...DPW330300.html

The trailer on the 206 is one with a HUGE A out the front. I would have to take it to a welding shot have have the frount cut off, and tweet a few things to get to fit in my 21 foot garage.
I know my SSN 210 should just about fit and i might have swing it around a little, but this a new home so i will have to wait to see that the space is like....
LOVE my current 26 foot deep garage..... HATE the floor plan of the home.

that is the boat i was thinking about getting, and trading the trailers. Because of the tongue on that trailer being a Huge A at the front it will not work for the garage that i want to put it in. I was thinking that If i could swap trailer. (also newer, better for skiing and a few other details). I cannot swing for a SPORT200 at this time

Now I'm following. Yes, that trailer would be a pain. It would be longer than necessary without a swing tongue, but I bet it would fit in a 26' deep garage with the platform removed. I have a 19' bfn in a 23.5' deep (inside) and it just barely fits. It predates the swing tongue and the platform isn't removable, so I bet it's roughly the same length as a 206 would be.

Either way, I would not count on a trailer swap with your SAN working out for either party.

For me, I want to make sure my baby is well taken care both off and on the water, so when I bought my 196 (used and didn't have a trailer) I just bought a new one for it to ensure I have piece of mind. Getting a trailer that wasn't designed for the boat would worry me. It's like another 10-15% more in cost, isn't "the other woman" in your life worth it?
