    Is it just me?

This past December I purchased a new 06 SAN210TE. I had heard so many great things about the reputation of CC and how their boats are built solid. I only have 14hrs on the boat and I have had a whole list of problems, not all occuring at once but all within the past month.

    1. First drive home I stopped at the closest lake to my house test the boat, filled up the ballast tanks and when I went to drain, nothing, the pumps would not drain

    2. Dash lights didn't work

    3. Set screw in throttle was improperly installed from the factory, worked out, left the actually throttle handle limp, which left me wide open out in the middle of the lake. I could crank the throttle back and forth and nothing. When I shut the boat off I couldn't find nuetral to restart. This left me stranded. Brand new boat.

    4. Far left tower speaker stopped working

    5. Docking lights stopped working

    6. Just got the boat back from repairing the dashlights and the starboard ballast won't drain again!

Are these kind of things normal for a new boat or did I just get a lemon. Please let me know if anyone else has had these kinds of problems. And maybe give me some advice on what I should do.

That does sound like more than the typical number of problems with a new boat. I know of another member here who had a list of problems with his new '06 210 too. While that number of problems shouldn't have happened, especially the safety-related ones, give your dealer a chance to fix the issues. A good dealer will be willing to take care of your boat's problems quickly.

As far as the pumps go, they may be the early '06 pumps that have a recall out on them. The impellers are slightly too large, causing the circuit breakers to trip when you try to empty the tanks. You might check the circuit breaker on that pump and see if it was tripped. If so, have your dealer look into the recall and see if your pumps are included.

I'd second Jeff here- give the dealer a chance. If you give them a chance, THEN it still isn't fixed, come back and see us.

I understand your frustration. We had several issues with our 02 when it was new also. The dealer was more than accomadating even to the point of suggesting a new boat at one point. We stuck with the same boat and worked thru the issues. Our 05 is trouble free. Not one single issue. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Correct Craft builds a great boat. Now, let me clarify that statement. The hull design and fiberglass layup will be second to none. We need to keep in mind that these are hand built machines with lots of fairly complex systems. It's difficult for a manufacturer to find a balance between affordability and quality. I am sure if the systems on the boat were built to my complete satisfaction the boat would be out of my budget.

My personal opinion is that Correct Craft does not do the best job on the electrical and plumbing systems. But I am quite cabable of making small tweaks/adjustments to these systems so my boat can be perfect. It's a lot easier to rewire/replumb a ballast/stereo/lighting system then it is to correct a problem with the hull of a boat. I gave serious consideration to a Malibu boat before buying my new Nautique last year. In my opinion Malibu does a little better job with thier electrical and plumbing systems but their fiberglass shells cannot compare to a Nautique. After driving both boats there was no question which boat was a better machine, the Nautique. In all honesty my friend the Malibu dealer was somewhat relieved because he knows how picky I can be.

Even though it may not seem like it to you all the problems you describe are minor issues. It's true that they should not have happened but in reality it's not that rare to have these issues with a new boat. When I had some similar issues come up with my new 2005 I decided to solve most of them myself. Last weekend I spent a day relocating my ballast pumps and changing the valves to improve the operation of the system. While working on this system I also discovered that they left my transmission linkage disconnected at the last service. It's an easy fix for me because I have been around these boats for 35+ years.

It's a balance, I know my levels of expectation are higher than most, but I am also capable of providing that last 5% to get perfection. My friends bought a boat exactly like mine from my dealer. They are 100% happy with thier purchase, but thier expectations are slight lower than mine. In most cases the dealer can make the difference between being happy or mad. It's unfortunate that your dealer is not going the distance to keep you happy.

I agree with Mikeski. I just got an 06 210. Finish work and wiring isn't up to my standards, but I would just rather fix it myself.

Give the dealer another shot....that's for sure. But, a recalled item should have been the first thing a dealer checked out in my opinion.

Also....about "accepting" sub par on anything from CC. I understand that things can happen, but we are paying a bunch of money for a "quality" boat. I think that quality has to be through the entire boat. Having a ballast system not work on a "wakeboard" boat is not acceptable. Being left stranded is not acceptable. Aren't these boats water tested before given to the buyers? I don't have but a couple years experience with a CC boat, so I wouldn't know how to tweak the systems to get them "working" correctly. Plus I don't think that I should have to.

I am very glad that I have a dealer that understands my needs and understands that they are expected to deliver a quality boat.

I understand that their are bugs that have to be worked out, but when you spend close to sixty thousand dollars; You should'nt have to worry about relocating ballast pumps and changing valves. For a company thats been around for as long as correct craft, they should spend a little more time testing their product before putting it out on the sales floor. The issue with the throttle to me is a major safety issue and liability. What if you were pulling around to pick someone up in tow and the throttle handle malfunctions (like my boat did) and you can't stop and end up running someone over. What kind of repercussions would Correct Craft absorb. IMO this is unexceptable. I'm paying for a top of the line watercraft, but so far it has been nothing but dissapointment. For example I spend sixty thousand dollars on a Mercedes, if it had these many problems would it be considered a lemon. What if the gas pedal stuck to the floor, what kind of consequences would there be for Mercedes? I understand that Diamlyer/Chrysler is a much larger company but you know if you're spending sixty thousand dollars you will be getting a quality product. Is Correct Craft maybe charging too much for their boats? Should they maybe be charging half what they are now?

The throttle is a major saftey issue. It should be designed so this type of malfunction could not happen. It is a simple design issue, if the throttle was keyed properly the set screw coming out would not create this type of problem. This picture and explaination of the problem should be forwarded to CC customer service. It seems to me the design engineers would love to see this.

i went on a bolt and screw tightening 'spree' when cleaning my boat yesterday. lets just say i hope the guy who fitted the upholstery isn't the same guy who fits the running gear...

but these are handcrafted machines that require alot of maintainance. If your dealer had to fix every little thing that went wrong you would never have your boat.

and i know of people have had a 'not connected' throtle first day out in there brand new malibu too.
