    Hollywood on whining

Lets look at the big picture, what if someone was injured or killed from this incident. What if it was your family in the boat when the throttle handle disconnected and one of them was hurt because quality control wasn't diligent in checking out their product. Would some of you still be defending them. I guarantee you C.C. would be putting out a much better quality machine if that ever happened. What kind of image would this create for C.C. as a company? What would this do to them financially? Again, most of the other problems i've had I could overlook but this is something that should never happen whether hand built or on an assembly line. But I'm just whining I guess.

****!Hope I don't have this kind of trouble when the ice melts(just picked up a new 05 210 SANTE.I think laziness is the only reason for poor workmanship. One thing though...I see the issues with the wiring, throttle etc,but CC probably farms out most component stuff (i.e.)ballast pumps, stereo components, etc.Sometimes the part vendor actually drops the ball and screws up.It may take CC some time to figure out the impeller clearance is wrong,& that's to be expected. As long as they fix it in a timely fashion,oh well.I didn't buy a new boat so I wouldn't have troubles,I bought new so if i had problems they would be covered under warranty. As for the previous comment about Harley's,Well I work in that industry and they don"t run out every year. They are so available now that if you bought one for $20,000.00 last year, you'd be hard pressed to sell it for $15,000.00 now.People don"t buy Harleys because they are the best bikes on the road(if you took all the japanese parts off a new one,you couldn't roll it home),they buy them because thats where their passion is and they don"t care what it costs or how unreliable it is.Sound familiar?

The throttle thing is a bad deal. Hard to overlook. Makes you worry about other things on the boat. What else is missing or not secured? I don't think it unfair to require the factory to get involved. Did the set screw fall out or was it not secured to the keyway/flatspot on the throttle? Is it as simple as not using loctite? To me, it's like safety wiring your steering gear or calipers on a race car. Basic but crucial.

I remember the first time I put my boat in the water. It didn't draw raw water and got hot right out of the box. I found myself worrying about the smallest things after that. A customer loses confidence in his boat if the basic things go wrong. I'm not saying my problem was CC's fault. It wasn't and things worked out great. No mechanical problems with my 206 at all. But for a while I was second guessing and it wasn't fun. I don't blame the OP for being concerned.

Inv01, I don't think you should be worried. It seems the QC problems are with the '06 models, my '05 has been pretty perfect with a couple hiccups. (Helm control valves, my oil pressure gauge crapped for a couple of weeks then came mysteriously back to life, tower lights had a pinched wire and blew the fuse. (tower lights were dealership installed however.) I really hope they can bring it around with the quality. SOON, otherwise consumers are going to begin wondering why they'd be paying 20k extra over say Supra. I'll be interested to see if they win the JD Power award again this year...
          How about \"Chales\"?

Yeah,I'm sure your right ,and I'm not really worried.I think overall the problems are wide spread,we're just hearing from guys who have had some bad luck.I actually spoke to my dealer about the ballast valve trouble & he said that was more of an 06 thing.I'm glad I got an 05 from what I've seen here,&I actually like the look of the 05 better.I also spoke with him about seeing the thread on poor quality with the interior vinyl, etc. He said"yeah I saw that and the first thing I did was go out and check your boat to make sure those issues did not exist."Bottom line is I could have bought a lesser boat for less money, but paid the extra money so I could keep doing business with NECC.Great guys over there. If I paid 20k less for a boat I wouldn't feel any better if it broke. It's still new & it should work.I think the throttle thing is an issue, and it needs to be brought to the factories attention, but I don't believe in going over the dealers head unless they ask for you to do that to make something happen,or unless you feel you've been treated unfairly. It only makes the dealer look incompetent and that isn't fair to them if they are honestly trying to help.Sorry for the long post.

All the bickering about build quality aside, I am really surprised at the apparent fundamental design flaw in the throttle control. It seems to me that it should have been designed in such a way that it would not slip on the shaft if the bolt comes loose. Kind of like prop shafts use a keyway or splines. In a tighter situation, someone could have been seriously injured or killed in this incident.

We all know the 'suits' at CC police this site frequently for various reasons.......Wouldn't it be nice if just ONE of them had the GUTS to stand behind their product, and address the problems reported in this or other threads?

82tique, I agree 100%. I bet CC is loving the fact that people are saying buy a used 05 because you will have less problems than a brand new boat that they put together.

It seems to me that most of the members that are completely outraged with this lack of quality are NOT the ones buying new boats. It's real easy to say you'd go demanding X from your dealer but aren't in their shoes.

On another note I am sure that the people at CC are busy with their new factory and hopefully it will allow them to improve their product more and more as time goes on. But this is NOT an excuse to be screwing things up right now.

Hollywood, I noticed the same thing. Alot of us complainers have old nautiques. I would say that we are either complaining more because know we are not buying these boats and it is easy to complain or We dont have the Nautique Owners Blinders on.

On the topic of those not buying being the ones complaining, I have an '02 and have given serious thought as to "upgrading" from my san to a 216 or 211. With the recent posts, I have weighed the cost against the apparent quality slip, and have not decided to buy either a new CC or one of the other brands. Right now my biggest gripe is the cost. The pricing of my boat today is $20,000 more than I bought mine for new in '02. I find that rediculous. Stack poor quality control on that, and it is a serious deal breaker. If I thought the new boat was worth more because of better quality or new features I could see it, but it is generally the same boat.

This is my 3rd CC. a 99, 00 and now a 05. The fine finish quality has gone down. I have had to bring this boat in too many times to get thing fixed than the last 2 combined. On 2 of the problem it has been multiple times in to the dealer (not the dealers fault). CC wants photos of the problem then it comes up with a VERY poor fix. Bringing the boat back and forth to the dealer is a pain and waste of my time. I am really frustrated with CC, it seams like they do not care to be the best any more. There is no excuse for this to be happening at these prices.
