Correct Craft Announces Acquisition of Bass Cat & Yar-Craft!

As most of you know Correct Craft has been experiencing significant growth both organically and through expansion and today I am happy to announce yet another acquisition. This week Correct Craft entered the bass and walleye fishing markets with the acquisition of two premier brands, Bass Cat and Yar Craft.

As our organization continues to grow some people get wonder about who the players are. To help you know who we are please let me try to clarify below:

- Correct Craft – A 90 year old company with an incredible heritage that is now functioning as parent company to several great companies and brands. All the other companies listed below are subsidiaries of Correct Craft

- Nautique – The premier towboat manufacturer and the largest of our companies

- Bass Cat – The premier bass boat manufacturer

- Yar Craft – The premier walleye boat manufacturer

- Pleasurecraft Marine – The manufacturer of the world’s best engines. Pleasure craft engine brands include PCM, Crusader and Levitator engines

- Aktion Parks – the owner of the world’s best boat and cable parks. Aktion currently has two parks (Orlando Watersports Complex and Miami Watersports Complex) with more to come

This is an exciting time for our team and we believe we are just getting started. We plan to continue to look for good acquisitions while also opening new boat and cable parks.

I saw this announcement and was curious what Bass Cat and Yar Craft owners thought. The responses on the owners forums are hilarious. They are acting like a crap boat builder bought them. Yikes...

It is an interesting decision by Nautique though. I wonder what the true purpose is. More market share? Another manufacturing facility? Gaining new manufacturing processes? Time will tell I suppose.

It was certainly a surprise to enthusiasts of BassCat boats, just like it was to us. I'm sure as time goes on, they'll see what kind of a company Correct Craft is, and they'll understand that they have nothing to worry about!

Keep in mind that it was Correct Craft, not Nautique, that acquired BassCat and Yar-Craft. Correct Craft is Nautique's parent company, as well as the parent company of PleasureCraft Marine, Aktion Parks, and now BassCat and Yar-Craft.

I'm curious how Correct Craft is financing all of these acquisitions. Have they been able to collect cash overall of these years and have a really strong balance sheet or are they putting debt against the operating companies such as Nautique to finance the other new acquisitions. The company I work for did this just prior to our last financial crisis and it nearly killed us. I really hope that they are not jeopardizing their future with these acquisitions. Would would really hate to see Nautique go through another recessions and not have the available cash to keep developing the best tow boats in the world.

Wake boarders and fisherman get along so well I can't imagine this being an issue. Maybe at the wake tournaments they will allow fishing until 11 and the wakeboats have to dodge the fishing boats in the good water. I like this.

It does seem odd at first glance but if CC is in the boating industry there may be some relationships and efficiencies to be experienced with the acquisition. We have a bass boat and a G23 so don't think that the family is divided at home. I'll look at Bass Cat on the next purchase.

I have owned Bass cats they are one of the best built bass boats out there and are serious performance boats with stellar customer service so I am sure it will be a good fit they handle things similar to the way Nautique does and is a family business.

I've had a bass cat before as well, their customer service was horrible in my experience (hopefully it gets better with this). Skeeter and Ranger are the Mastercraft/Nautique of the bass boat world in my opinion. Too bad they couldn't have got in on that Ranger purchase a while back. I have a skeeter now, much nicer boat than my Bass Cat.
