Tow vehicle for '10 SAN 210

Looking at buying a vehicle to tow my 210 with. Tired of having the marina haul out/put in. I calculate the boat, trailer, gas at 5300 lbs. Narrowed it down to either a 2007-10 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 Hemi OR a 2007-2009 Dodge 1500 quad cab, same motor. I'm leaning towards the Jeep. The truck is going to be the better boat hauler I'm sure but I prefer an SUV for daily driving. Will I have any issues with the Jeep?

I'd look at a Ford F-150 Ecoboost with quad cab. You'll have a seriously capable tow vehicle with versatility to haul other stuff, and awesome fuel economy when not towing. If I were buying the Dodge quad cab, I'd want the Cummins. I know it costs a lot, that's why the F-150 takes first.....especially with the ALL ALUMINUM CAB.

I would make sure that the jeep is rated to tow 5300 lbs (or whatever tongue weight it is) without needing a weight distributing hitch. How far are you planning on towing it? Any long distance trips planned?

LOVE the ecoboost Fords...buddy has the Ram diesel 1500, beauty truck. Can't afford right now, that's why I'm looking at a 2008-10 Jeep GC hemi. It's rated to tow 7200 lbs...on paper. Towing will be from my cottage to/from my winter storage building which is about 40 miles away. Any repairs at the local dealer which is about 20 miles away. That would be it

Is the Hemi Jeep a lot cheaper than the Ford? I'd assume so. Jeeps are Cheap! Too bad the little diesel a Grand Cherokee is so expensive. The Jeep should do you fine for your short haul tow and you'll be in nice style. Me, I'd look for a used 2000 Ford Diesel Excursion with 90k or so miles if there are any to be had. Freshen it up and drive if for another decade. Those things are really great for hauling, towing, and big vacations

If it ain't broke, sell it.
