2002 Sport Nautique...What is the best way to set it up for Wake Surfing?

Kids want to try Wakesurfing and am looking for the best way to set the boat up. Appreciate any guidance/directions you can provide in how to set the boat up for the best possible wake. Thanks,

A sac that fills the rear locker and a sac/people in the rear on the side you want to surf. It also helps if you have a bigger board. Here's a video of my daughter surfing behind my 2000 Air Nautique 6 years ago. It wasn't the ideal setup compared to a newer V-drive, but I did a lot of surfing behind that boat from 2003-2009.

I'm also trying to dial in the surf wake on my 2002 SS. Currently I have 400lb on each side of the V drive and 250lb in the ski locker. At 9-11 mph my wake is really washy and not surf-able. On a positive note my wake is awesome for wakeboarding.

I was told by another member to add some weight to the bow and directly behind the driver.

Hopefully goin out this weekend to give it a try.

Rauser, I have a direct drive not a V drive, but thanks!! I hope to put the boat in within about three weeks and start working on the wake before we get in the water...still pretty cold here in Indiana.....again appreciate the feedback..

You have the same hull as a V drive of the same year so its just a matter of getting enough weight in the boat. I don't think Rauser is using enough weight. I have a 97 sport. We surf with it all the time. You are going to have a better wake on the starboard side because the way the prop turns in these boats, but you can definitely surf port side no problem. I have several small 300 to 400 pound sacks that I weight the side I am going to surf on. You need a lot of weight. We typically have 400 sack on the back seat, on the side we are surfing. Then we pile the other sacs people along the side of the boat we are surfing. I also have a sac in the ski locker, and try to put a couple people in the bow. The driver needs to really be paying attention as you will be listed quite a bit, but you can get a pretty good wave going. Im not much of a surfer my self, which is why I own a DD but everybody else likes doing it so we do it.

MTRBTR. Thanks, Before I read this I talked to a rep at wakesurf and he said to get two 400s and put them in an L config in the back which sounds pretty close to what you recommends as well. How much weight do you put in the ski locker? Again, thanks !!.

I think it's about 350. I haven't found that it seems to make a lot of difference though. I would probably put that weight on the side you are surfing or up front. I think fly high makes an L shaped surf sac that would fit back there good too, as an option to the 2 400 pounders. I believe its 1000 lbs
