    230 surf wake weighting question

I have a 2011 230 with the fat sac extra ballast system plumbed in.

One in each v drive locker and the sacs under the bow cushions.

I ride goofy so we don't fill the port side at 10 mph

    I'm 230 and riding a Phase 5 Model x 58.

I can't seem to get a wave going that pushes me. Seems like I can only ride without the rope for 30 seconds or so at a time and I have to stay right up close to the platform.

I'm guessing because of my weight I need to have this dialed in perfectly although I've seen folks much bigger than me surf forever.

    Any insight is appreciated

I thinks the first question would be , can you surf on that board behind other people's boats?

Good question but unfortunately I haven't had a chance. I have only surfed about 10 times over the past 5 to 6 years until I purchased my boat a month back. I don't recall what boards I used but for the most part I was always able to just ride without the rope with no problem.

While you boat is slightly listing and weighted over factory, being such a big guy and a relatively new surfer I would add one more sac to the surf side. 500-600lbd under or on top of the chase lounge seat behind the driver and speed up a bit to 10.5mph. Have you calibrated your speedo to ensure its accurate? .5-1mph makes a huge difference.

there is nothing wrong with your set up. Definitely try speeding up. Don't be afraid to go 11-11.5. Also maybe let some weight out of the bow

I would try more time with the rope until you are able to move back & for the wake. It seems you´ve lost the feeling...
