For Southern Surfest we did something new this year. We measured the lengths of each boat wave! We will be posting all of the reviews and measurements soon but it was an interesting test with quite differing results. The G23 had the longest wave at 23 ' 8" We measured from the back of the transom to the wave curl/wash and measured both the regular and goofy sides. The G23 was going 11.4 with stock ballast plus 800 lbs in the rear, 400 lbs mid boat and 300 extra in the bow. All boats were measured at the speed/set up as when it was pulling the surfers during the event. The shortest wave was a couple of different brands at 17' 3" which surprisingly was a large difference from the G23. Thought I would share this with PN members first before we publish all of this on our website and social media. More to come!! This is not as easy as everyone going out and measuring their wave and reporting back even though it makes it interesting. There are many factors that change the results ie) water depth, wind, people on boat, wave shape settings, truthfulness, bias, speed, etc

I can't wait to see all the data. I would love to see someone do something similar to the experiment the hydrodynamics guys from U of M did comparing Mailbu to MC for all the manufacturers. I also wish the manufacturers could publish their ideal set ups for various boats and activities.

Ya I donno. The Malibu 247 and Centurion 244 have thrown the "longest" waves I've seen; slammed with tons of weight and leaning over running real fast.
However, wave quality, shape and the rest of the experience really matters also. I'll take this wave quality, length and shape ANY day putting along at 2850rpms, very quiet in the boat:

Here are the results:
New for 2015 we measured the length of all of the boat waves at Southern Surfest. We were very surprised how varied the results were. Thank you to Shawn Wright of Brigade Wakesurfing for being the official measurement person! To qualify the results, they were taken on the same lake, in the same area, same group of people and using the same method during each round. Both the regular and goofy sides were measured and if the boat had a wake adjusting system we measured the mellow setting and the steep settings. We also had the driver keep the same speed setting when the surfers were out on the water so they couldn't manipulate the results (many wanted to speed up!!). From this we took the longest wave measured. Only one boat had a a large variation so we are noting it on our results (and the MasterCraft X20 was not measured due to schedule goof up).
1. 2015 Nautique G23: 23' 8"
2. 2015 Supreme S226: 23' 4"
3. 2015 Centurion FS33: 21' 4"
4. 2015 Axis A24: 20' 6"
5. 2015 MasterCraft X23 Goofy Side: 19' 8"
6. 2015 Supra SE550: 18' 1"
7. 2015 Malibu 23 LSV: 17' 8"
8. 2015 Moomba Mojo (w auto flow): 17' 3"
8. 2015 Tige Z1 (w AVX): 17' 3"
9. 2015 MasterCraft X23 Regular Side: 16' 8"

The Tige Z3 is supposed to be their best surf boat...no results for that? I would be surprised if they sent a Z1 to such a huge event. having ridden behind a nicely sacked out Z3, I do not think it matches the G, but nonetheless, I think it worth wondering why they would not send their best dog to the show.
My personal experience is that the G23 wave is longer than any other I have ridden. With the NCRS, I also find it to be the most easily adjustable. It can go from skim to steep in a heartbeat.
When will these results be posted elsewhere? Hurry up already! I will probably be glad to share this with my other brand friends, but would rather it appear it came from a sort of unbiased source, other than PN. Thanks for posting this!Last edited by Tallredrider; 05-12-2015, 02:25 PM.

Let's get the setting terms correct so as not to cause confusion.
The settings that can be changed are NCRS and NSS.
Both of thee have adjustments titled VERT and RAMP.
The settings that nyryan2001 and JoeA are referring to are NCRS and NSS.
When listing your settings, please use these terms so that there is no confusion.
Sammy was out on my boat Friday and Saturday and we discussed the settings they used here, and we set my boat up similarly, although my extra weight is placed a bit differently than what's in his boat. Different weight placement (including people) will change these settings. We were running NSS at 0 and NCRS at 2 or 3 depending on people. It produced a great wave like this. Better on starboard, but really nice on port too.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. My previous boat was a Tige Z3 and it had an incredible wave, BUT it was not as good as the G23 wave. That is why I upgraded to the G. The only knock I have on the G23 wave is the way it looks. The g wave is longer, taller and more mush, just not as clean looking as the Tige.
