Last week using the OJ 16x16 I had full 2850 OEM ballast, +750ish lbs of assorted crap, and 8 adults on board....I was towing an advanced rider at 24.5mph and with NCRS cranked up to 5 I was turning 3300rpms. It was a bit sluggish getting up to speed...gotta ensure NCRS is a 0 on takeoff....more weight in the bow helps. I ran harder and heavier then I ever have then and still managed 7.9gph. Average use I am seeing around 6gph on the OJ 16x16.

for max fuel savings and low RPMs all around, A+ for surfing heavy weights: OJ 16x16. (Performance will lag some getting up to 20-25mph heavily ballasted)

for serious 20-25mph wakeboarding, fuel doesn't matter, all about performance 3-6000lbs ballast: OJ 16x~14.5ish.

16x15 and 16.15.5 are in between on that spectrum.

    Enjoy!

Any updates from wakeboarders running the 16" prop and some extra ballast? Hows the prop preform?

Ryan, in your opinion, do you believe one could realize similar efficiency gains with a 2013 G23 with the zr450 by going with the 16x15? Main use is wakeboarding, OEM ballast + 2 adults on board, 22.5 mph. Goal would be to drop RPMs by about 250 or so vs. the stock 2313 prop, increase fuel efficiency to squeeze in more times between fill-ups, and decrease RPMs at cruising speeds. Maybe a 15.5x15 prop? I know apples to oranges vs. your tests, but similar theory might apply. Thanks in advance.

Dude, no, no way a 450 on a 1.48:1 could spin that prop well.

Now, with that being said... If I had a 2013 450, I'd be looking at a 16x12... Or a 16x11.5. Having had both a 450 and a 550, I wouldn't want to give up ANY performance at any cost.

                jesutton,

The 16x16 is perfect for any and all surfing, including very heavy surfing. The 16x16 works well for OEM ballast at 23mph... a slight loss in performance compared to the OEM prop, a little slower getting 0-23mph. But the 16x16 will lower your RPMs across the board, 300-600rpms and save you a lot of gas over the OEM prop and run lower RPMs.

If you run heavy weight over OEM ballast at 23mph, the 16x16 is not for you. If you go heavy weights over OEM ballast at 23mph, you aren't saving gas anyhow, it all about performance, you want a 16x14.5 sized prop, may have a slight advantage over the OEM prop.

                  Still a little confused.
Which 16" prop would you recommend for a heavily weighted 2013 G23 with a 450?
                  Thanks.

                    Mainly for wakeboarding.
If we go to a 16x14.5 size prop will the boat perform better with more weight?

Of those that I know exist and have experience with, I'd check out the Acme 2315. It's what I ran on my 2013 G w/ the 450. It is a 15x12, but has less cup than the factory 2313. You'll run a bit higher RPM, but should see a better hole shot, and maintain speed in your tighter turns. I'm not sure if they make 16" props with the 1 1/8" bore or not?

                        Devo- Acme 2315 15x12 for you, 450, 1.48:1 tranny.

If you feel froggy and wanna experiment, look at a custom 16x12 or 16x11.75.
