Ski Nautique 1999. What am I getting into?

Hey, I want to get back into slalom and I'm considering getting a 2nd boat as a companion to my wakeboard board (2013 Wakesetter). I've had the chance to ski behind many different boats and my fav is definitely TSC or TSC2 model Ski Nautiques. So I've been browsing the local ads and I found a 1999 Ski Nautique with low hours (about 350 hrs according to the ad) with a GT40 engine and Perfect Pass.

I'm no mechanic and I really have no interest in spending my free time fiddling around and fixing things on the boat. But there is an excellent mechanic on our lake if I really need help. Soooooo, what do you folks figure I can expect? I know that Nautiques have a great reliability record and all, but it is a 16 year old boat after all.

Opinions? Thanks!!

P.S. I've posted a similar thread about this boat last summer but it was to confirm that the hull was TSC.

I just bought a '97 TSC1 to go along with my G23, so we're in the same boat so to speak. Mine needs a little work, but I got it for an incredible price, and I enjoy playing around with these things. This era of Ski Nautique is hard to beat in my opinion!

If the GT40 was well maintained, it has more life left it in than you'll need out of it. '97-'09 were all variations of the TSC mold, which is all you'll ever need in a slalom boat. I've been skiing behind a 200 for the last 2 seasons, and now just bought an '06 196. I'm just as happy skiing behind either.

Any older boat is going to have issues now and again and require maintenance but that motor and boat is about as solid as you can get for and older boat.

You are getting into one the best budget slalom tugs you can buy.

My brother owned that same spec'd boat from 2003 to 2013 and I can't remember one thing wrong with it. It was a great boat. His was a sweet blue metal flake.

Sure do... It was sweet looking. I was mistaken, he sold it in 2010. How time flies...

Manual or not, I don't know what to tell you, it was metal flake. The pictures don't show it to well.

It's a navy blue main stripe with charcoal gray for the upper stripe.

Don't mean to be thread jacking. I asked my brother to see about additional, better pics.

When he bought it used on consignment through a local dealer, the salesman said it was a special order. It was metal flake but not sure the tint of blue.

Navy would be too dark, IMO.

Bubble backs look so cool on the water. Like that color combo too, but what's that weird looking flag pole thing covering the pylon for?
