    1999 Super Sport Ballast questions

What sacs will fit in the front compartments of the Super Sport? I would like to be able to use that weight independently. Would 400's fit up there on either side? I would then run 750's in the rear hopefully allowing me to control the pocket and wave shape better? Good theory? Or should I just put an 1100 pounder in the ski locker and forget the bow sacs? Somebody out there has owned this boat and knows what works... So clue me in.. I have checked out all the installs I could find but the last line of the post is never what we all want to know which is if it worked as planned.
I would appreciate anyone who wants to post up known good setups for the boat.
    Thanks, Trey

I don't think 1100 fill fit in the locker. I think general consensus is 750#/side, 600 (although I have 375 and it's fine) in the locker, and some weight in the nose.

Am I going to dunk the nose with weight up there? What's the breakpoint for danger on bow weight? I'm thinking if your belly weight has the boat low ... Putting a bow sac up there sounds like a good way to take a lake bath.

Integrated bow sac in the front under the seats, rear seat sac in the floor locker, and 750s in the rear lockers is the generally-accepted best method for getting the best surf wave and what I had in my 1999 and it worked great. For BEST control, each sac should have its own pump. But a single pump can fill/empty multiple bags and you can control it with ball valves, etc.

Weight in the front will always make the front more prone to taking on water, but as long as you're careful, it is not that difficult to manage without taking on too much water.

I have a 1999 Pro Air (same front interior config as yours) and the bag the fits in the in-floor ski locker is this. Downside - it is only 370#:

No way could you get an 1100# bag in the in-floor ski locker. It's just too big.

The Rear Seat Sac (W705) fits perfectly in that center locker and weights 580 (http://www.wakemakers.com/fly-high-rear-seat-sac.html). As others have said, no way an 1100 fits in there. You can probably get a little more than the 580 in there if you go with a custom sac but most don't think it's worth the cost for the minimal extra weight.

No chance you would get much water in the 400s if you stuck them under the front seats. That under bow seat is pretty small. Best bet is the integrated bow sac(W711) that Scarbs mentioned (http://www.wakemakers.com/fly-high-i...d-bow-sac.html). That is what I have it fills up that whole space but does not fill completely. I have experimented with folding one end under the other to keep the water on one side for surfing and it didn't seem to make that much difference for the amount of effort.

As long as you are careful when putting around and crossing your own wakes and other waves you do not have to worry about submarining the bow. Just pay attention and give it a little throttle so the bow rises up and over the wave.

If I wanted to just get started wake surfing, could I get away with a 750 in the corner and the bow sac in front? Or does it take both the seat sac and the ibs to make it good enough to surf? Also... do you guys have your locker and the bow sac on one pump and switch, or separate?

Yes, rear and midship ballast would work for a pretty steep, short pocket. I have maybe 200lbs of steal i use in the nose if there are no passengers up there. With a couple of people and weight, it becomes easy to take a dunk on rough water.

How much of the 650 pound bow sac do you guys feel like you are actually getting filled?

i think i get about 500 because it take just a little longer to fill over my 440 in the back.
