I still haven't heard of a 17 inch prop bag, although many boats now have 17 inch props.

I was at the dealership today and I am pretty sure I spied a guy with an ACME prop bag that was 17 inches across. It is still not listed on Wakemakers website or on the ACME website, WTH? Anyone know where to get one?

Do people keep the spare prop in the boat? If so why? Do you plan to replace the prop if damaged while the boat is in the water? I'm just curious. I'm well past 4,000 hours of inboard ownership and I have yet to damage a prop. But coincidentally, I have read very compelling reviews of the ACME 17.5" x 17.5" prop for improved performance while surfing and just ordered one. So now for the first time I will have a spare and curious about where people keep theirs. Thanks.

I had a weekend saver kit for my prop but also did not like the protection tho I only leave it in boat if I am taking boat out of town for weekend or something. What I did recently was found a hard box at Harbor freight (foam on inside like for handguns)....I cut everything to size and made compartment for the prop and then compartment for the tools and then used some extra foam to hold everything together tightly so it will not move around. Granted my prop is only 14x14.25....but that may be another option to look into if you can find a box the right size. Also great protection over the soft cases.

Yes. I have an expensive houseboat vacation on Lake powell every year, and the vacation would be much less enjoyable if I dinged a prop and could not get it replaced. Lake powell is terribly treacherous in terms of underwater obstacles. It can go from 300 feet deep to 2 feet instantly. Lots of underwater cliffs. With a minor collision, I could limp to the marina and put her on the trailer and replace it right there and be on my way. I have done that before. So I just keep the spare in the boat all the time since I have plenty of space, but the cardboard box it came in is getting a bit worn.

If I dinged a prop on my home lake, without a spare, I would be at the mercy of the prop repair shop until I get it back. My time on the water is too valuable, so I do always keep a spare.

You need to buy lottery tickets...Cause that is unbelievable? And don't ever let anyone else drive your boat...

I agree. I have been pretty fortunate, and have only dinged 3 props. Once because I am stupid and tried to turn around at the shallow ramp when I first started boating, and the other two at lake powell (once on floating debris, once on a submerged rock).

Nearly 15 years of my boating experience was spent on Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach FL. It is one of the premier locations for three event waterski training. Five man made lakes and when you ski you are the only boat on the lake. Everyone else has to wait their turn at the docks. The only thing I had to worry about hitting there was the occasional alligator!

We have been in the Seattle area for the past 8 years and Lake Washington where we boat is 100 - 200 ft deep. Although I do have to dodge the occasional log in the early and later parts of the season. Excuse me but I have to go knock on some wood

I ordered the Acme 3087 yesterday; it is the 17.5 x 17.5 with 105 cup. (I’m trying to drop RPMs a bit, and don’t ever have more than 6 people in the boat while surfing). I will use the stock Acme 2561as the spare. There is a bag for the 16-18” props; it is part of the Acme prop pulling kit number 5999.

For fun, I decided to get the 2569 'high altitude prop which is the same size and pitch, but with less cup. I'm not sure that was really necessary, but I thought it would be nice to do a head to head comparison. I will post up a review when I finally swap it out. For now the current prop seems pretty decent. I was having some troubles planing out with just stock ballast and 3 people on board, but found my NCRS was turned off. With it on, it planes much better. It would plane out, but had an annoyingly long time to get there, especially between 15-18 MPH. With NCRS auto feature turned on, it is what I would expect.

Regardless, my weekend saver bag from acme is way too small for a prop of this size. I don't want the propeller laying around naked in the storage compartment, and wondered if anyone else has any suggestions on a bag that might work?
There is an Acme prop puller kit and bag for 16”-18” props. The part number is 5999. Roll Tide.

I keep my weekend saver in the truck behind the seat. That way you pull the boat and just get it out and replace the prop right there.

                        That is it! http://www.nettleprops.com/store/p/2...-Kit-5999.aspx

I already ground out my 1.125 inch puller to make it fit, so I just need the bag. Anyone see the bag only for sale?
