Did anyone see the Show Ski Nationals this weekend? It was on OLN @ 2 PM. I have to admit, I did fall asleep 45 min. into it--it was that interesting. But I did stay awake to see two sweet commercials, one for BU, and the other for MC. They were just short edited clips for a skier using a MC and a boarder using a BU with some music playing. They were really nice, made me jeleous of their weather, pissed there was snow outside, and kinda dissapointed that CC is falling behind in the advertising... Is it just me or does CC really not take advantage of TV commercials?

No reason for them to at this point. They're selling all the boats that they can build.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. RE: Show Ski Nationals
But don't you think the real point of a boat commercial isn't quite the same as a car commercial. People who watch the show know if they are or are not going to buy a boat, and a commercial isn't going to alter their minds all that much, if anything. On the other hand a car commercial is used to convey the new promotions, innovations, etc.. to the consumer. Both these BU and MC commerisials had no words, no lettering (besides the name and slogan), and therefore was not meant to promote any specific feature of their boats, IMHO.
I see these commercials just there to make a statement, and to create an image, not so much to sell an extra boat or two. Showing a sweet commercial that makes you drool in the middle of winter makes a statement about a company, and makes you think a certian way. I have to admit, when I saw the guy in the course behind the 197, I was thinking "**** I wish i was behind that MC right now." For those 30 secs I was a MC fan.
There's a difference between selling a customer, and selling a boat. Selling a boat, you've just made X amount of dollers right then and there, who knows what will happen in 5 years. Selling a customer, you've just got that guy on your side, boat sales for life, and most importanly, a CC fan for life. Car commercials sell "boats," boat commercials sell customers... CC needs those commercials to create/convert those diehard fans... they're lacking... Its all about the image--and I can tell you first hand that just from people I've met, NOT hugely into the industry, who all know MC like they're the best when I say their name, but I say "Correct Craft" and they give a look like I don't know what I'm talking about--needs to change..I Nautique, therefore I am.

I have attended the show ski nationals every year now for many years and I can tell you it is there I have seen some of the best skiing in my life. Perhaps the telecast did not do the tournament it's full justice but I would tell anyone if you ever get a chance attend this event, I will guarantee you will see many great skiers performing some really creative and unique skiing acts.
Unfortunately you will not see many teams sponsored by CC, in fact our team switched from Bu to Sanger last year.

CC doesn't need to make themselves a household name. like jeff said, they sell all their boats and don't need to market to a bunch of idiot yahoos. As long as the people that participate in the sport know CC and their boats, that is all that matters.I don\'t care.

I couldn't bring myself to read your entire post, but from what I saw when I glanced at it...

Also, bigger isn't always better. Just cause you might be able to produce/sell more boats isn't directly related to higher profit. The small quantity of boats (relative to other manufacturers) is/had quality issues, just imagine what it would be like if they produced twice as many boats.

RE: Re: RE: Show Ski Nationals
I see what you're saying, just always seems that some of the companies that make the best products are sometimes the worst at marketing, IMHO. CC is not the only example I've seen, its throughout other industries as well. I just find that a little ironic...

Originally posted by AbunDiga909That's the whole point, from my experience, maybe not yours, but from mine, A LOT of the people that board, ski, ride, etc... they all know the MasterCraft name, but rarely do any of them know the CorrectCraft name. That's why I said CC was "lacking" in the area of having their name known compared to the comp... Maybe it's different in your areas...I don\'t care.

within the next couple of years imo from talking to people and reading, correct craft will no longer be one of the elite! .......again thats my opinon, based on others, magazines ,shows, info, press, and etc. it seems to me theres a lot pf owners who just dont wanna face the music, and agree..again mo and i love my boat just probably wouldnt but another one based on what i stated!
