Replacement Gateways no longer available for 10 year old Nautiques

Am I the only one a little worried about the fact replacement Gateways for 2003 - 2005 Nautiques are no longer available?

What does this mean for the newer boats that use the LINC system? Will there be no replacement gateways for them when there 10 years old? What will this do to the used value of these boats? If the LINC system dies, and there is no replacement, what will an owner have to do to get the boat fully functional? As these computer systems run more and more of our boats, shouldn't Nautique be insuring there suppliers will offer replacements for at least 20 or 30 years?

If there's a need, someone will fill it. These electronics are easily reverse engineered. You'll be surprised at Yankee ingenuity when there's a need to feed.

worried in the sense that i don't want to go through the aggravation of changing my original gauges out, as nautique would have you do presently. i agree with tryathlete, i don't think it would be that hard to build a replacement if its just a circuit board with ports. would anyone ever take the initiative is the question, being that it's such a niche component.

as regards the newer LINC systems i would be more than a little worried in the long term being that so much of the boat functionality depends on it. although i love tech, i'm often glad that my boat is simpler than the new ones, lol

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I have to give Nautique credit for coming up with a solution to the fact there are no more replacements, but removing the gateway, tossing the digital gauges, then installing a new wiring harness and installing analog gauges just seams a little cheesy to me.

Is that what there going to suggest for the newer boats when the LINC systems die?
And how is that going to work out?

For now, I've decided that I'm not going to switch to a late model, I'm just going to stick with mine until I see how this turns out.

i would agree. i just read the install doc and A) it looks like a pain in the @ss and B) the gauges don't exactly go well with these dashes. i wonder if those are the only variety they offer?

i wish someone had pics of the insides of these gateways, as i feel certain they can be replaced and/or repaired. as long is mine is functioning however i wont be taking it out to look, lol.
