    New to correct craft community

Hello fellow ski nautique owners and fans!

I have recently purchased my first direct drive boat. Have always been around inboard outboards and true outboards (we love to ski), but this is our first direct drive - I have always wanted a Nautique. It's a 1998 with 400 hrs (GT40) on it and the owner took very good care of it (see pics) . Any specific tips or pointers on this boat that i should be aware of? The steering seems a little bit tight or stiff, so I think the steering cable may need to be replaced....any thoughts? Also, i haven't put any real elbow grease behind it yet, but the plug below the engine seems very difficult to unscrew, any pointers on that? Lastly, it has perfect pass and that is also new to me as-well. Thanks to everyone for making this such a great forum i have been a luker for a while and am exhilarated to be a Nautique owner.

Great looking boat, welcome to the family! First, I'd remove the playground equipment, and turn it back into a 3 event machine Sounds like your steering cable needs replacing. Your drain plug sounds like it was wrenched on tight, which is not necessary. I hand tighten mine, and have never had a leak or issue.
