Padding for Air Nautique Polk Speaker cans?

Well, I've got two bumps on my head, and you'd think I'd learn not to hit them, but I don't think that sounds promising right now!

Anybody use anything for padding on the speaker cans so it's at least less painful when I (or a guest) hit my (their) head?

Interesting you brought tis up, I just put in 2 Wetsounds Rev 8's and the installer hit his head 3 times and I hit mine once. Well anyone should know that numerous friends and I are going to hit their head.I have a new Sport 200 Nautique. This boat is towards $80000! Where the heck is the engineering on such expensive boats. Grante their speakers are 6x9 Polks but it sounds like you to are having problems, I plan to reengineer mine and put them on the outside of my tower . My direct drives weren't a problem because they were above the motor cover. I think this will solve the problem. I will put them on the side on the outside.

I'm probably going to get some custom cut outs of seadeck or some other black colored coating. I've done it about 8 times now, and friends have done it a few also.

Moving the speakers towards the outside to get them over the seats and out of the walkway will help big time with this. No sure if we have the same tower but as you can see in the pic below I was able to straddle the cross bar to get mine pretty far outbound and I have never hit my head on them. Also if you like using a bimini, having that mounted under the speakers will certainly help to get you to duck further and sort of solve the problem.

It's not the same tower, and unfortunately, not the same speaker brackets. I've already tried to move mine more out-board, but the way the tower is designed it won't allow it. I've thought about getting a pair of different cans and just putting them in the corners, which would solve all of the problems.
