They have been trying to sell this thing for awhile. It's been on Craig's and ebay several times. It is beautiful I can't figure out why someone hasn't bought for a showroom piece.

It's still for sale because he has no provenance to back up his claims of the Cypress Gardens boat to justify the high price. Anyone can make up a story but with no backup it's not worth anything as far as value. All he would need is a couple of old photo's of it at the gardens and his story starts to be believable but without it it's not worth much in the shape it's in. If you look closely it needs to be refinished, it 's actually quite a mess. It's cool but way out of line on the price as it stands right now.

Well no matter what, it IS a beautiful boat and would be one heck of a trophy in front of my place.

But realistically speaking, what's a normal guy gonna do with a gem like this, assuming that he has no problem dropping 50K for the boat, transport and taxes?

So now you own the boat: let's say you want to take it on the water for a nice ride every Sunday, and you don't have access to a boat ramp but you do have a lakefront property. Could you realistically leave it on a boat lift all summer (let alone just mooring tied to a dock). And then assuming you don't have a heated garage or showroom big enough, do you actually get it shrink-wrapped and winterized every winter.

Like really, out of pure curiosity can someone with some experience with boats like these tell us what kind of maintenance, headache, care comes with ownership of such precious boats.

Take a closer look at the workmanship. Quite poor. Looks like fiberglass strands or the varnish was applied with a steel brush. Even the plug was not sanded flush. Probably not something you would want in your boathouse.

Like fine wine and vintage sports cars, the history of ownership has value. If the Cypress Gardens and Granatelli aspects of the boat are true, it's worth something but the asking price is based upon sheer guesswork in my opinion. I could see a boat like this in the Four Winns Charlevoix home. Wonder how a supercharged 352 only takes this lightweight to 48 mph. There are plenty of Mustangs out there with natural aspiration that will outrun this boat. I'd think a boat with this power to weight would outrun my Super Sport!
