    Preowned 230s

Seems to be more and more low hour 2013 and 2014 230s for sale. I guess people are trading up to the Gs. We're really interested in a 230 but aren't finding any preowned ones locally. How difficult are long distance deals? We have a Tige 24V that I would prefer to trade-in vs selling outright. Are dealers interested in trade-ins when dealing long distance?

Here is an example of a low hour 2014 with what seems to be a good price. No tower speakers, with 343 but has NSS.

Where are you located? Maybe find one you like and work the numbers sight unseen with the dealer with the understanding everything on both boats has to check out to finalize the deal. Find one in a nice place you might be able to make a weekend out of it and make it a fun experience.

I am thinking there will be more used 230's later this year when the 2016's become available to order. It seems as though many are going the route of the G boats. I would prefer a 230 just because.
The 230 is an amazing boat and I think even the older 230's will hold value now that it appears some companies are making aftermarket surf systems.

That is a good price. I'm betting it has been in saltwater. Not saying that matters but salt water hurts resale.

This one is a little closer to you. We spent a lot of time in this boat during our demo process. My wife just doesn't like Red. It is sharp in person and on the water. Ask for Gary at premier.

Thanks. This one looks really nice - no NSS, but that can be added on a 2013, correct? I'm a bit confused on this as it is listed as being in Lexington, KY but the same boat is on Buxton's website in TX.

I purchased from WLM sight unseen. The team over there put a water test video together for me with extra pics and walk around video since I work out of the country. I felt I got a deal that was just not available to me. Living in MC country and the dealer being 3hrs out one way, I figured since they didn't have what I wanted 200 miles or 1000 wasn't going to matter because in any case I was still facing shipping fees. The key is having a dealer willing to go the extra to sell you a boat or driving a long way to get what you want. I didn't mind searching, part of the fun was hunting down "the" boat because it allows you to get exactly what you want if you are willing to trust people and your judgement. If you are a good judge of character you can eliminate sellers just by how they handle the sale, and being that you are looking a person selling a high end boat you are most likely avoiding many sellers you dont want to deal with right off the bat.
I also feel you are gauging the market correctly, there will be many value 230's just because of the popularity of the G. You should be able to find some solid deals. Good Luck

I would prefer to buy from the local Nautique dealer to have the dealer relationship, especially since the warranty transfers, but they just don't seem to get any good trade-ins. Maybe this is a crazy idea, but has anyone had their local dealer help with a remote boat purchase? I'm not even sure how that would work as the local dealer would need to make some money on the deal to make it worth their time.

During our buying process, I found a boat in Wisconsin that I was interested in. My local dealer was willing to work out getting the boat and doing the purchase through the local dealer. We ended up ordering one, but it is possible. This was on a new purchase. It will probably be easier to accomplish on a 2014 that is still on the dealers lot. I would try to do as much as possible through your local dealer. They will be more interested in helping out if issues come up in the future.

I've had a good experience with my local Tige dealer - the owner has really taken good care of us thru the years. I wish I could continue with him, but we're just not that interested in the new Tiges. Does anyone have any comments about our local Nautique dealer - MarineMax of Lake Ozark? I don't know anything about them...

Just for your reference on pricing, we sold our 2013 230 w/ NSS roughly 150hrs pretty much loaded (no heater) with decked out trailer for $79,000.
Many people are moving up to the G, but we stayed with the 230 and picked up a 2015 from Buxton (Phil is a great guy that always treats us right). We just do not need what the G offers, the 230 is more than enough boat for us and much easier on the wallet. That being said the G is perfect for many people, and is an incredible boat, just more wake than we would ever need!

Hey Hoss, thanks for the info. How does the 2015 compare to the 2013?

We will be at the lake this weekend and I hope to be able to sit in both. We have been in a 2012 a couple years ago but not the newer design. Our crew can get up to 6-8 adults and 4-6 kids with the most at any one time being 12, depending on the weekend. Do you think the pre 2014 design can handle that many people? I am thinking preowned because of the kids. I might be (my wife says will be for sure) a bit OCD with a new boat. I would like to find a nice, low hour 2013-2014 and then when the kids are a bit older look at getting a new one. Who knows what cool wake making devices may be available then.

Take a look at this one at Buxton, I know Phil will work a trade site unseen and verify condition prior to sealing the deal. His boats are always in great shape and he will shoot you straight if there are any flaws on the boat he has.

Looks like Buxton has a nice selection of 230's. Take a weekend - fly down there. Test drive a couple and buy one. Have it wrapped and shipped back. You'll be on the water before the end of July.
