I am thinking it was a Supersport. The posts above are correct - no real difference. I actually believe the reverse color scheme was an upgrade too.

It does appear to be a SAN by the drain locations. Probably just did not put decals on after it was wet sanded. Call up that dealer, they will be able to tell you everything they have done to the boat.

UPDATE: WARNING WARNING... the guy who owns this boat is INSANE. There's a reason this boat hasn't sold for almost 3 months, and that's because the guy (1) is asking WAY too much money, and (2) he is IMPOSSIBLE to work with, and is VERY SHADY. IMO, stay away from this boat. See my comment below.

Ok, so I called TNT and talked the service guy for about 30 minutes. Really nice guy, he knows the boat in-and-out. The boat was in the north (Wisconsin, he thinks) and sat for 2 years before the current owner bought it. TNT went thru it completely, and did all those replacements and repairs. During our conversation, he said, "it will need a steering cable soon, it's pretty worn".

But, he said overall it's a good boat. I asked him "is $25k a good price" and he said, "I think he's dreaming. It's worth $22k-23k max".

So, I texted the owner (he refuses to talk on the phone!) and explained all that. Said I could be there tomorrow with CASH $23k. It's a great offer IMO. He replied aggravated with "it's $25k". I told him good luck. Then, talked to the wife, who pointed out that it is a boat that has been gone thru by a dealer, it's almost a "dealer" boat, so it may be worth a little more because of that. I agreed. I texted saying, "TNT says the steering cable is going bad. If you replace that or take $250 off for parts/labor then I can be there tomorrow with $25k".

He replies, "they must be talking about the wrong boat, this doesn't need a cable" and then fired off like 4 more messages about "you are playing with me, I won't sell you the boat even for $25k"... just completely rude.

Now, keep in mind, I'm just telling him WHAT HIS REFERENCES TOLD ME. And I asked for what would be a pretty small thing, $250 to fix something that is "pretty worn". We're talking $250 on $25k and he gets pissed off and goes on a diatribe against me.

I knew my "spidey sense" showed this guy is shady and this is clearly why the boat hasn't sold. I'd stay away from this one...

huh.... maybe his wife just wants the boat gone, so he advertised it... but makes it impossible to sell... hence allowing him to keep it.... but still saying "but honey, I'm trying to sell it...."

Well they are very hard to find lately... $23 would have been a decent deal, $25 was high BUT it has been completely gone thru by a Nautique dealer who had a lot of good to say about it. Honestly, a dealer would have asked $25 after doing all that work to it...

But man, that guy was insane.

Ha, you know I never actually asked. After the replies here, it really didnt' matter, except for my hard-headedness of wanting to be told the truth by the seller.

In my opinion if the boat is sound and the price is acceptable buy it even if the seller is "insane." Get the deal done and enjoy a nice boat. And regarding whether or not it is a "Super Air Nautique" or a "SuperSport" does not matter. If owners have ever looked at the title to their boat even Team Edition Super Air Nautiques are listed as "SuperSport".

Honestly, I think everyone who owns a boat is insane, but . . . I can't think of a better state of mind when I'm pulling my kids and their friends behind the boat, or just hanging out listening to music soaking up the sunshine.

Walk away from that deal. A bad attitude when he's trying to sell the boat....no thank you. AND you are willing to drive 9 hours and he wont knock off $250. Keep looking.

If you find one you like even far away you can ask a PN member to go look at it and or have a local dealer do the inspection. If it all looks good you can make the purchase and have it shipped or fly out then have it shipped. Onlyinboards and Boattrader would be good places to start searching. You will find one.

I agree with this, being from Northern WI there are not too many (if any) 25k boats around like this. The dealers certainly dont have them and when they do 25k seems reasonable. IMHO, it is the week of the 4th, it has been dealer serviced and it appears to be what you are looking for, if you can take it for a drive and like what you see, you will never have to see this guy again. Shipping could be the difference, say you like a boat for 23k on the other side of the country, it will end up being 25k in the end anyhow. Plus if you get a dingaling shipper like I did, you are left to worry when and where it will arrive. I had the Jared Joyce of boat shippers haul my boat.

Either way, good luck with your search, it was a nerve wracking but fun experience.

I would not buy a used boat from a rude guy with piss poor communication skills, unless it were the last boat on earth.

It just wouldn't sit right with me wondering if he beat his wife or abused his kids in my boat.

My neighbor sold his direct drive almost identical to that for 19K a couple of months ago. 23K seems about right.

Still looking for a real SAN? I have a 2001 for sale in MN that I could sell for $25k, currently listed for $26,900. Has all new ballast, heater, etc. and I don't consider myself a jerk.
