If I had to leave my boat in the water I would simply choose one of the two batteries to isolate, and I would close all (intake and ballast) seacocks. Done.

I guess I neglected to say I would put the cover on. (But that actually goes without saying).

Here is my understanding of what happened: There was a leaky water strainer on the boat, and he left the boat on the dock and shut off the batteries as many people do who leave their boats without planning on using them for a while. Boats are notorious for small electrical gremlins that will give you dead batteries. How many times do you guys see people at the ramp with dead batteries? I have seen it more times than I can count. With the batteries off, the bilge pump no longer works, and he gets his boat full of water.

Dealer thinks he is a DA for shutting off the batteries when he knew he had a leak somewhere. He thinks dealer should have told him so, and that they should have found the leak in the first place.

One of my off season improvements will be to wire the bilge pumps like they should have been from the factory. I find it unbelievable that Nautique does not wire the bilge pumps directly to the batteries so that they could never be turned off. Imagine the pain and suffering that all sides have suffered because Nautique does not do this simple thing! My MC was wired straight to the battery, my Tige was too. My Malibu was not, so Nauti is not alone, but they are also not in line with at least a couple of others. I hope that they will fix this in future years. Maybe Foster's Supra was wired straight to the battery so maybe he never imagined he was removing his boat's life support when he cut the switch.
Unless Nautique is now using float switches on their bilge pumps, wiring your bilge pumps directly to your battery will always drain your battery. The older nautiques automatically run their bilge pumps every x minutes. If it detects the bilge pump is pumping out water(via increased motor resistance/correct draw), then it lets the bilge pump run until it is running dry. If they wired it directly to the batteries, then it would drain the batteries sitting dry in someone's garage.

Yep, still like that today, and that's why Nautique wires the pumps like they do.

My G23 sits in the water for a few days at a time sometimes. My process is identical to scottb7's.

I personally have no idea why they use that kind of bilge pump either. A good old fashioned float triggered pump works just fine for me. I wanted to see if my bilge pump was working properly when I first got the boat, so I put it in the water, but left it on the trailer with the plug out. In the 2 minutes it took for the bilge pump to start its cycle, I already had 8 inches of water in the bilge. It was like a game of chicken, and I was grabbing for the plug before the bilge came on. I know the bilge pumps are not necessarily capable of keeping up with that much water flow, but it wouldn't help an owner to be 2 minutes behind in the case of a catastrophe.

And if I leave my boat in the water for weeks the draw is the same as if it were running dry in my garage.

It will probably be easiest for me to just add a 3rd bilge pump with a float switch.

There will be the rare time when the float gets stuck because of debris in the bilge, and kills the batteries. If you keep the bilge clean and don't park your boat under the leaves in the fall, that is not super likely. Foster has already put out $5800....He (or his insurance, which means all of us) could have bought an awful lot of batteries for that much money. And if his boat had sunk to the bottom, he could have bought even more batteries for 120K.

Out with the old and in with the new!! Jesse, Dan, Eric, and Don (Boat House) and Adam (Nautique rep.). Really stepped up big for me and my family and got us into a 2015 G21 just in time for July 4th weekend. A sincere THANK YOU!! to the entire team who made this happen. I guess these guys and Boat House really do take a personal touch with there customers. I would recommend Boat House to any of my friends and there service after the sale really does exceed all expectations.
From the Foster family again Thank you Boat House!!

Congratulations on the new boat. Did you check to see if the strainer was installed correctly?

And there you have it. Even after all the BS this guy slang and incompetency he displayed The Boat House still believes in taking care of what's right. Only the 3rd brand new boat you have now been in after your original G23 purchase. I'd say they've done more than enough. Now get a lift, get an education on how to properly use it and it's features, and stay the heck off the forum with nonsense.

In any event Enjoy. Pretty slick color combo

Hey good to see closure here. Enjoy the best boat on the water! Bought from the best manufacture and likely one of the best dealers I've been around! I'm still waiting for them to bring a demo g21 up to the rock river for a demo day! .

Why do I get the feeling that this poor G 21 is not going to receive a proper break in??? I'm kinda feeling bad for it! Lol
