Is 2100 lbs Ballast too much ??

Hello - I am purchasing the Eight 3 1100 lbs straight sac and the 1000 lbs front bow sac for my 2010 Air nautique. I plan to fill both up for wakebaording..

The 2010 Airs come factory with 750 lbs of hard tanks.. this this would be a total of 1850 lbs.. Is this too much?

Total brackdown with proposed ballast

1000 sac in bow
250 in belly hard tank
250 in each side rear hard tank
1100 sac in rear across seats. (or length from belly to back in middle walking area)

Thoughts? Over kill?

Depends on your goal. My 211 will surf with 700lbs extra. It's not a HUGE wave, but it does work. 540+350+350 the stock 750 or so works a bit better, and now I'm trying to add just a bit more (and get it better organized with piggy-back kits).

I think it's going to come down to the following:

1) What's the minimum to get a decent wave?
2) What's the maximum you feel safe with?
3) Do you feel an urge to get everything into piggy-back/integrated kits?

I think that those answers will help us to better guide you.

I don't think the weight is overkill but unless you are surfing and planning to use the 1100 to list to one side I would nix that sac and get a pair of 400-750s and piggy back those off of your tanks. Unless you are using all of the space in your lockers above the tanks, I would much rather have additional sacs piggy backed in there instead of taking up the floor of the boat or on a seat. If it was my boat I would actually get rid of the rear hard tanks entirely and replace with the biggest sac you can fit in there which I think might be an 1100. You lose the limited functionality of your ballast gauges but you gain so much space when the sacs are empty and engine maintenance is sooo much easier without the tanks in the way. On a similar note I prefer having the u shaped integrated sac under the bow seats as opposed to the big triangle on top.

what he said ^^^^^ I'd yank out the factory hard tanks, and plumb in the 1100's. if you're going to wakeboard, get the 1100 pound triangle for the bow. if you are just wakesurfing, then the integrated sac mentioned above would be good.

That's a ton of weight in a 216. What engine is in that boat?

We ran almost that much in our 216, will be fine. We did not have that much now weight but that will only help I would think. We only had stock plus 300 in the bow.

woops I assumed he was talking about a 210 when I was talking about the weight in the rear lockers. No experience with 216, sorry.
