    G 21 Surf Settings?

Hi everyone, just looking for a bit of help getting the G21 dialed in for optimal surfing. Just wondering what settings everyone is using and if anyone is running sumo sacks to help it out. We have an array of surfers from beginner to intermediate but have struggled getting the optimal length.

Thanks for any feedback from all the Nautique forum members, it has been a great place to learn about the boats! Keep up the great work Planetnautique!

Bullet.....on my 21....i'm full ballast, NSS on 0....NCRS 5....3 people sitting on the surf side and am getting a pretty decent wave for the beginners. To me, it seems a little close. I'd like to extend the wave back a little to gain that length like you mention above, but haven't really tried moving the NSS or NCRS around yet. I took a wave over the bow last night that dumped about 400 more pounds into the bilge....so i'm guessing I was near 3200 pounds plus or minus on the ballast. I am using no other external ballast.

If you are looking for optimal length then I woul fill all of the factory ballast, set NCRS to 3 or 2 and NSS (Surf Vert) to 1 or 0. Depending on how many people you have in the boat I would spread them out evenly too. A slight list to the surf side and you'll have a great wave.

Every time we go out we see a different wave because we always have a different number of people. Have fun and get to know how NCRS and NSS and how they impact your surf wave. Honestly before we surf I fill all of the factory ballast up then ride with the surf settings engaged and adjust until I see the wave I like best. You have a Nautique so be proud of it and have fun.

I'm not sure if the 21 is the same but the 23 is much longer with higher speeds than factory settings. I've got mine set at 11.6mph, NSS at 2 and NCRS at 4. It's much longer with still lots of push.

Jeb....last night I was 11.9.......NSS 0 and NCRS 5 and it was short. I'll try bumping to NSS 2....NCRS 4 and see what it does.

              Guys--

You are right I have a 23' boat so my experience and suggestions are more in line with my boat, not a G21. I'd say lower your NCRS to 3 as a starting point and NSS to 1 or 0. Also try playing with speed. More speed will flatten the while making it longer. 11.9 sounds really fast to me but that's just my opinion.

Spend some time in the boat getting the wave you want before jumping in. I do this every time we go out as I am picky about the wave we ride,. Make sure you are in at least 12+ feet of water when testing all of this.....very important.

              Have fun it's Summer time..

That does seem fast. I think dropping NCRS settings will help since it pushes the nose of the boat down which tends to lengthen the wave (similar to adding weight in the bow).

Thanks Jeb and Joe. I will experiment with all the suggestions. Just another excuse to go to the lake!! I'm going to Austin tonight to see the event. I'm sure Jeff will post some pics but I'll take some also. Have a fun and safe summer to both of you.

Hmmm. Never really thought about the water depth, but now that explains a lot of poorly shaped waves. Makes sense.

I have also learned that speed has a lot to say in wave shape. It's not clean at all if I ever drop to something less than 10mph.

I thought it was interesting the Phase 5 riders were posting their boat setups now.

This is from Drew Danielo's page at http://phase5boards.com/team/2015-drew-danielo/
