Looks like the blower tube. When you turn on the blower it clears out any fuel fumes to prevent explosions before starting the engine
2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop
    2010 SANTE 230 343 (280hrs)

Yep just wrap it with black duct tape. Purpose for the opening being low is gas fumes are heavier than air, they'll be lower in the bilge.

A rip higher and hose will suck air too high to remove any potential gas fumes.

One thing I have done to 'upgrade' the flimsy vent hose is to buy RV sewer hose (New of course) of the same size and use that instead... Seems to last much longer, and looks a little better. Just a little tough to get on the fittings but it will work... Wal-mart (as much as I hate to go there) even has it.

              perfect!!

I assumed it was some sort of vent but wanted to make sure and fix if needed .

tape seems like an easy temp fix until I can just replace it ..

I will grab an un-used sewer hose as soon as I can..

I have the same issue, the hose is just about shredded to pieces. I don't really use the blower though, so I might just pull it all out.

Its up to you if you pull it out but you really need to consider the safety function of the hose. Suggest you go on youtube and do a search for boat bilge explosions. The hose you have shown is a forced draft hose designed to put more air in the bilge area to disperse low settling fuel vapors.

While you are at it you should just go out and pull the airbag safety system out of your cars since you don't use them that much......

Yes repair/replace the hose. You should be running your bilge blower for at least a minute before intitial start up to evacuate gas fumes that accumulate in the bilge after the boat has been setting for a while.

This stuff gets really brittle as it ages and will tear easily. The RV sewer hose sounds like a good idea but if you want to go with the OEM stuff it can be found at NautiqueParts.com. Don't forget the PND discount.

If you do this, you must disclose this to the next owner. It's one of those things that if it's missing you might not notice it.

Pulling the blower hose out and not using the blower is terrible idea. Zirb3l I would reconsider that idea and make it a habit to use the blower like said for ATLEAST a minute before initial start up. Its recommended in your owners manual too.
