    LCS (Launch Control System) Operation???

    Hello,

New owner of a 00' SAN here and I am having trouble finding anything on how to operate the LCS. From start to finish, fill and empty. If anyone could provide me with a step by step procedure on doing so it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Page 1.11 starts with the basic operation. The valves that isolate the tanks on these years were known to leak by, so the valves maybe "closed" but the tanks will still take on water and fill.

Hope this is a good starting place.

p.s. where in SC are ya?

I think I should put in my $0.02 as I just went through this on an '01 PAN. It took us a bit to understand the LCS, but this is how I have found it to work with the help of experiments and reading PlanetNautique. I did not find the manual helpful in the beginning, and I have not revisited.

      1. Open the seacock - yours will be in a different location than mine, the above manual will describe this for you.

      2. The valves located by the drivers elbow control the valves allowing air to escape from the tanks as they fill with water, or allow air into the tanks as the water is removed.

      3. Open the air valve for the side you wish to fill (or both).

      4. Drive the boat (around 20 mph + works best for me) - this will fill the tanks with water, and will also prime the fill pump. Using the 'FILL' pump and driving will fill the tanks much faster than driving alone.

      5. When the tanks are to the desired level, as per gauge, close the air vents.

      6. To empty, open the air valves while sitting still and the water will escape from the bottom of the boat. Using the 'EMPTY' pump will empty the tanks much faster. You will not see the water being pumped out of the boat.

Several things that are confusing --

My tanks will not fill without at least initially driving the boat - dropping the boat from the lift and hitting the FILL pump button will not work for me.

You will not see water being pumped out of the side of the boat - it goes back out through the seacock.

Water will come out of the rear ports (overflows) on both sides when the FILL pump is on, even if only one air valve is open (only one side is filling).

As mentioned above, even with the air valves closed, the tanks will fill slightly (visible on the gauges) when the seacock is open and you are driving at speed.

Sitting still with the air valves slightly open will allow the tanks to drain.

One more thing that was really confusing to me --- the air valves in my boat are opposite of the labels! This made the process far more difficult than necessary to comprehend.

And finally - the previous owner of my boat did not use the system. We found both air valve ports were plugged with mud-dauber nests, and were keeping the system from working properly.

I may not have all of this quite right, but the above is what works consistently for me.

Thanks for the info guys. I did look at the manual but it didn't seem to make sense to me as this is my first boat.

Mosquito thanks for the info ill start with that and let you know how it goes this weekend.
