Trying to tow with tower down. Suggestions please

We are on the road , moving across the country. I tried towing with the tower down. I am fighting a 50 mph head wind. It keeps lifting the cover up on the sides and then the zippers come undone, as well as the Velcro. I did put duct tape over the zippers too. I moved the tower up but now I am only getting a 170 miles to a tank. Any tricks to towing with the cover down on a 2013 210.

Never tried towing with tower down. My mechanics all recommended against. It will be a drag but likely better for the boat. Maybe removing cover will help with mileage. Probably catching more wind than the tower.

I always tow with the tower up. I would be terrified the Bimini support arms would crash through the windshield with the tower down. Also never tow with a cover on. I just know I will need to do big cleaning when I get where I am going.

I always tow with the tower up. But when I met the seller he had the tower setup like this and it was a long drive. He put pipe insulation on the grab rails and little bungie cords to hold the tower down and keep from bouncing. I towed for 200 miles this way. Worked well no damage

I tow everywhere with the tower down and the cover on.

I suggest removing the bimini completely if possible if it is causing issues. I have towed both with and without the bimini attached, so I know what you're facing. On the G23, the factory bimini fits inside the boat (as does the Z5), and you can just use the standard cover poles at that point.

On the G23 I have now, I remove the Z5 and store it in the boat and then tow like this.

Do you have the antipooling poles in? I found that there was less lift on the sides of the cover with the poles in. One side of the cover often comes up and slightly over the rub rail just in front of the windshield but doesn't rub and hasn't been a problem. Good luck.

Jeff, can we get a pic of how the z5 is in there. I have flipped and turned it all different ways and can't get it to fit so it won't "eat" the interior or deck.....

I kept the shipping foam that came with it. It goes around the sides. I put that on, and then I put some extra padding under and over the parts where the rear tower mounting poles connect. Then I just lay it down over the engine and position it as it fits best and put the cover over it. I'll try to remember to snap a picture the next time I do it.
