1991 SN

I am looking at a 1991 SN. I have been browsing around on this website here for a while and just signed up. I absolutely love the info about everything.

I see a ton of people who own 1990 SN's and 1993 SN's.......was there something wrong with the 1991 model year? I have my eye on one that looks awesome and has really been taken care of. But if there is a problem with them, I will avoid it. Also, when did they stop the wooden stringers in those boats? I am concerned about that.

I am planning on buying one within a couple of days....any last minute pointers on what to look for? This will be my first boat purchase and first inboard......Any help, would be awesome!! Thanks in advance and for all the knowledge that I have recieved from this site already!!!

Nothing wrong with the '91 boats as far as I know.

Check out this article. It is really for people looking to purchase the older 2001 series boats, but most of it will also apply to a '91, since the '91 still has wooden stringers.

I believe the wooden stringers were removed in '93 and later model years. I had a '91 Sport Nautique and loved it.

Started behind a 92 sport. I have a 2002 SAN now and would still ride behind the 92. If you get enough weight in there it throws a sick wake.

I agree, my '91 Sport threw a nice wake with the right amount of weight. Just got bigger and bigger and bigger. Never did find out what was too much.

Where you looking to buy a ski nautique or a sport nautique. Also, planning on boarding or skiing mostly.

Yep, other than wood, nothing wrong with that year. The 90-93 is one of my favorite eras for graphics on SN's. They had it all- the sleek design, giant lettering, and simple look. If you haven't driven an inboard before, or this model, I'd advise driving a few of them to get a feel for how it should drive, accelerate, and turn.

I think most people that bought 91's still have them. I still think that style is the best looking boat they ever made. i was looking for a 90-93 when I licked upon my 2000. I have skied behind several 91's and my son learned behind one. I agree with the wooden stringer comments but I ran my 66 Barracuda for years aftering using GIT ROT and sawdust in the holes and then redrilling them.

Thanks for the opinions guys! I will definitely be wakeboarding almost all the time and I was looking to getting the Ski Nautique, not the Sport. Will the SkiN still throw a good wake compared to the sport?

Nothing wrong with the '91. I picked one up 3 years ago and it has been great.

My friend has a '93 Ski Nautique and the wake is quite a bit smaller than the sport nautique. That si why he is going to be selling the ski nautique to upgrade to a 206 or 216 with a tower. His passion is skiing but he wants a bigger wake for boarding.
