I was excited to take delivery of our new boat with the Z5 bimini as I'd assumed I could store my surf board up there. Unfortunately, I discovered that the straps are too short despite the fact that the board physically fits on top. What do other people do? I hate having it sitting around in the seating area...

I've never had a Z5 but on our last over tower we had pockets sewn into the canvas for the large boards or sure style. Again I'm not sure how the Z5 works, you may not be able to swing it.

NSI makes GARB tie down straps that are extremely universal. I have set up a few under the bimini and it keeps everything up and out of the way. I am sure you could use these straps to work on top too. http://www.northshoreinc.com/store/p...p?idproduct=71

We use surf board straps and pad we got from an ocean surf shop on our tower. It holds a 5'4" board that we use in the ocean and on the wake. No issues.

HaHa! Someone was thinking at Great Lakes products - the manufacturer of the Z5 Bimini. If you call Customer Service (877-867-7861) you can order "rear rack surfboard extender straps for $19. Problem solved!
