Having troubles getting a wave to be able to let go of rope. Have 750's on both side of engine and 600 in the ski locker and another in the bow. I have tried the two front ones full with the port side full and the starboard side about half. Not sure if the prop spin has to do much with it and wonder if I would do better surfing on the starboard side as that side of the wake is usually always cleaner at all times. Any input would be great. I am a bigger guy around 240 if that matters.

Starboard side is pretty easy with that hull. Does the '01 have factory ballast? We use center full, starboard full (each are about 300) another 300 on top of the hard tank plus a 450 behind the driver. If we have more than three people we put at least one up front. The wave is very nice.
Second step is get a board suited for a 240 pounder. Even a good wave will give a person issues if the board is not made for their weight. The guy who weights 240 in our group can go ropeless all day long on the IS Blue Lake. No so much on my Ronix carbon thruster.

we run a 400 in the locker, and a 750 in the port side locker and completed drain the starboard 750 bag. You don't want ANY weight on the starboard side.
at ~9.6mph I can surf just fine. You'll want the entire crew on the port side. If you don't have a few people to sit on that side just throw a 400 pound bag on the port seat.

Still trying to get it dialed in but we are getting there. 2001 SAN. 750# in port locker, 700# of ballast/people in port seat, and 150# or so in bow.
