    Bow Stop on Boat Lifts

In another post a member mentioned putting a bow stop on boat lifts to prevent going too far forward and possibly damaging the prop.

I'd like to put a bow stop on mine (Craftlander 6000lb) but haven't seen anything that I liked.

Any suggestions (pictures) of good bow stops???

Depending on your dock configuration, you can add 2 x 10's in a vertical 'V' fashion, attached to your dock and maybe sunk a couple feet in the lake bed.. You can also sink two poles about 1-2' apart at the location you need the bow to stop at...

Shag: thinks for the info but I need a bow stop that attaches to the lift. I can't put anything on my boat dock nor can I put anything in the ground.

I looked at doing this on my dock (floating dock) with my lift, ended up changing boat lifts so didn't actually do it. My dock guy was going to weld a bow stop just like on my boat trailer and with a crank just like a boat trailer. Made total sense to me as I had a front mount shallow water boat lift. The lift functions the same as a boat trailer does on a boat ramp. I guess it depends on the boat lift you have as I don't see the need for one on a traditional under water boat lift like yours. Do you run the risk of being too far forward and your prop get messed up?

I usually just drop the lift down, float the boat back off the lift about halfway , and then raise the bunks back up a bit so I don,t have to worry about over shooting the lift no return. If you have a remote, just raise the lift a little bit as you are leaving.

I know the old boat lifts at Sea World were just basic trailers frames that were solid mounted at the front then just the back lifted up.

my lift has a custom padded bar that catches my front tracking fin each time. works perfectly.

I could be wrong but I think you have about a 50/50 chance of getting a response from a 6 YO post. He does have 138 posts and his last activity was on 2/5 so I guess there is a chance he's still lurking out there.
