Hard Tank Removal in a 2008-2013 SAN 210?

I've been thinking about removing the rear hard tanks from my 2011 SAN 210 and replacing them with sacks. To anyone who has done this, how difficult is the job? Also, what is the largest sacks that will fit in the rear compartment once the tanks are removed?
I never thought I would considering doing this, but I like to do my own maintenance and extra room to get to engine components sounds very appealing. Also, having a single sack on either side of the engine sounds more appealing than the piggyback system I'm currently using.
    TIA

Removing the tanks in my 2008 was a pain. I slid them forward and pulled them up through the storage area under the side seats--but it was tight. I greased up the side of the tank and still had trouble squeezing them out. Subsequently, I read a post here where someone was able to pull them out of the rear compartment and thought it was pretty easy. I tried that with mine, but just couldn't figure out how to get them out the back. Close but no cigar. Perhaps I didn't get them positioned just right.

I put 750s in the rear and had lots of vertical storage space remaining. Many have put 1100s with no problem.

At the end of the day, it was probably the single best upgrade I made to the boat mainly because of the increased storage with ballast both empty and full.

It sounds like its potentially a difficult and frustrating job. Definintely gonna have to wait until it cools off before I consider tackling this one.

I did it on 2 of my 210's. The first one was tricky until I figured it out.

        1. Remove lift up side bench seat and brackets from the fiberglass.
        2. Remove gas strut from lift up back rest.
        3. Loosen tank bolts, remove hoses..
        4. Rotate tank on it's side (one way or the other, can't remember)
        5. Slide forward towards bow and lift out through bench opening.

I didn't have to grease anything or cut anything. It's even easier if you unscrew the fittings from the tanks before you pull them through. A good 2 person job.

FWIW, I did mine exactly as F725 described re: removing struts, seat brackets, tank fittings and rotating tank, etc. Perhaps my clearance was tighter. I ran into interference between the widest part of the rear tank and the width of the opening under the side bench...it wasn't an issue caused by any removable piece. Nevertheless, absolutely worth the effort.

I removed my dividers and hoses. I have a post on here showing how to twist the tanks the proper way. Tanks were tight removing the brass fitting on the rear port would make it easier but for me wasn't necessary. The trick is sliding the fuel hose up over the flange. Also remove the l brackets that keep tank in place This allows the extra room to slide the tank forward and rotate it roughly 45 degrees and pull it up. Had no problems. This is how all of my previous Centurion tanks came out as well so was somewhat familiar with giveng that method a try and it worked perfect for me.
The key is to twist and pull up and in towards the opposite side.

I have 1100's in mine and they fit perfectly and fill up no issues. I reinforced my divider at the base with L channel bracket on the engine side of the floor. I never run then full for boarding obviously. I put cheap full size cutting boards over the gaps in the floor in each side in order to give sac nice flat surface. The sacs get two cycles usually for boarding. I run the 350 piggy backed off the bow tank in the locker and 320 in Pop bags as far forward as I can get. I fill til my platform just sits with a skim of water over it (again usually two cycles) . Ride at 23.5 on 75ft rope. It's money for me. To surf the 1100 are perfect. Fill surf side completely. I added a ball valve in line out the vent to prevent gravity from letting water siphon out.

I took both rear tanks out of my 2011 210 with my wifes help. Wasnt all that difficult. On the port side I put and ENZO sack that is like 1500. The Starboard side an 1100. Way better than the factory hard tanks.

I removed mine from my 2012 210 like swatguy. Did the job myself. Not too hard and totally worth the effort due to extra weight and storage.
