Ethanol Free

I'm considering switching over to ethanol free gas. I've used it in one of my vehicles and when I calculate mileage vs increased cost I at least break even if not come out a little better. If I do go ethanol free, is there any reason to still add a stabilizer during normal use (not when winterizing).

No need to run a stabilizer during the season unless you feel it necessary. I'd probably run a bottle or two of fuel injector cleaner over the course of a season.

For your era boat you should be running Ethanol-free gas. With boats it is not the mileage gain so much as it is fuel lines and other components (i.e. the FCC) are not compatible with the Ethanol. Additionally, Ethanol attracts water and over a Winter layup can cause rough running and other performance issues the following Spring. Ethanol can also be traced to performance issues during the season, especially if you use you boat infrequently.

At the end of the season I keep my tank no more than 1/2 full and treat what is in the tank with Marine STA-BIL. Come Spring I fill the tank with fresh gas and hit the water. Never have had a problem yet.

The main reason I've been thinking about switching is the fear of breakdown/corrosion; however, I'm hoping it might help performance. I know it has in one of my cars, but my truck it didn't really have much affect.

Pretty much any injector cleaners OK to use? I've used Sea Foam before and I also like Lucas injector cleaner. Had good results with that in the past.

I would use ethanol free if I could find it; but it's not in my area. The manual for '01 gt40 says not to use more than 10% ethanol which is what is available. I fill my tank full and put Stabil in it for the winter -if there is no air space in the tank (tank is full) you can't get the condensation.

Your lucky if you can find it. In the two counties for Dallas and Fort Worth, you can't find it.
