Need some suggestions on surfing 2011 SAN 230

Im trying to figure out a good base set-up for a good wave. I have a 2011 SAN 230 with 1100 bags in the rear and Stock belly tank. (450 LBS). One main problem is I know there is not alot of people on the boat, maybe 3 plus the rider. I have tried speeds between 9.5 and 10.5 and cant really find a sweet spot. Al;so I have used the surf plate all the way forward and all the way back and there is still no smooth curl. Any suggestions ???? Please help Im new to this surfing deal and Love it but gotta figure it out. FYI I do not have NSS.

Need more weight up front for sure. I would through another 400 pounds up front, preferably on the surf side if possible.

I agree with cedarcreek. If you're on the water today and don't have ballast available to try that drain your rear some... With an 1100 you have too much tail weight if you don't have anything up front to counter it. As for the hydroshift I run it all the way forward for regular footers and either straight up or all the way back for the starboard side depending on how many people are in the boat and where they are sitting.
This might be a silly question but you're only running one of the 1100's full at a time right?
I have a 2012 with the same 1100's plus an additional 650 in the bow... Gets pretty good even with an empty boat. If you are all whitewash, with what youve got now I would try 2/3 full on the rear (only on the side with the rider) and a full belly. Hydroshift back should clean it up... But will make the pocket shorter. And finally try speeding up and see what happens. See what it looks like at 12... Who knows maybe your speedo is off.
I'd take an hour to play with it without anyone riding... Will save you tons of time in the long run. And if you want to use the full capability of those 1100's you'll need more bow weight

I have an 09 which is the same hull as yours. I also have 1100 each side.
What I do for best setup: full rear on surfer side, full belly, 2x 400lbs in the bow, gate in the middle, speed between 10.5 and 11 because i'm on a river not a lake. Most people on the surfer side too.

So this weekend played around and with the help from N3 Boatworks in Indy i got a amazing wake.

            Run #1

1100 bag in rear full on rider side
3 People in boat all on riders side
Hydro gate at full forward for goofy rider and either middle or back for standard rider
            Cruise set and 10.5- 10.9

Huge wake with tons of push just narrow pocket.

            Run #2

1100 bag in rear full on rider side
3 People in boat all on riders side
Hydro gate at full forward for goofy rider and either middle or back for standard rider
            Cruise set and 11.2

Still huge wake but a little wider pocket.

Keep in mind we are all new to wake surfing so we are just learning what we need.

            Next week trying front bags.

Still not sure the Board we are using is good for starting of cause of the sharp edge on the lip but shou;d be fine after we learn a bit more.

Feel free to offer any suggestions.

            Steve
