Can you surf on a stock '14 G25

New to the site...amazing how much detail on here...glad I found it!

Anyhow, have a 2014 G25 w/ 550. We have been trying to surf with stock ballast filled, and can't catch the wave. Putting 1000/800 in each locker, the thing surfs perfectly.

Wondering if other's have been able to surf with the boat "stock" or extra weight is needed to catch wave. If you can catch wave on stock, what settings are you using for the surf set up.

    Really appreciate the help

Assume you have NSS. What settings are you using?

I would hope for how much that boat cost, that you should be able to surf it stock.... I sure wouldn't want to spend well over 100K and then have to add weight..

have literally tired every combo of settings and speeds 10.0-12.2 speed, and the 0-5/0-5.....nothing has worked. Spent 4 hours on glass w 3 guys who are great surfers. As soon as we added the ballast, everything worked perfectly. Bummed that apparently ballast is needed

jdngolf sorry to hear you haven't quite dialed it in yet. The best place to start is with the factory preset settings in the user screen

If those are no longer there, Give this a try
          10.8 mph
          NCRS 3
          NSS 0
          Stock Ballast only- full

This may seem like a silly thing to say, but make sure NSS is turned on. Depending how you adjust/create the settings, it's easy to forget to turn NSS on.

With NSS deployed and no ballast what so ever, this boat should pump out a surf-able wave.

I remember there was some debate a while back about what the NSS numbers really reflect. Some assumed 5 was fully extended and other assumed 0 was fully extended. Are you sure you have your NSS settings correctly set?

appreciate the feedback...we had a guy from the dealership come out and confirm everything was set right and it was un surfable stock. Just seeing if anyone else has been able to catch a wave on a stock '14 G25

Weird, maybe the ballast isn't filling. Maybe fill one side at a time and see if you get lean on both sides.

It's been a few years, but I know we surfed a G25 with just stock ballast. I have no idea what the exact settings were, but I know it was cold a $**t out!

I did a demo day on the G25 when it first came out so I guess it was a 2013 model. Surfed no problem with stock ballast, big clean wave. One of the guys brought a 400b bag that we put in the port side and we surfed again . Wave was a little bigger with a little more push but the extra weight certainly wasn't needed to be surfable. This doesn't sound right. Maybe you should take a picture of what the wave looks like with stock ballast on each side and maybe that will prompt some feedback?

We surf a stock G23, both sides, all day, stock ballast and maybe 3 people total in the boat. I would be shocked if a stock G25 can not easily surf with out extra ballast. Heck, we surfed our G23 with stock ballast even before we added NSS, you just had to fill only one side.

Our NSS will fail to deploy once in awhile. But it is easy to tell as the wave simply does not form. Does a good looking wave form, or is it mostly white wash? If the NSS is not deploying, it will be the latter. Lastly, empty your center ballast to give a greater rise to the boat and try around 11.2 mph.

We surf my 15 G21 stock ballast, 2 people in the boat with no problem. All ballast full, NSS 0, NCRS 5, Speed 11.6 -11.7. Like vision said above, every once in awhile, my wave will hiccup and not form. I just turn the NSS On/Off and it is good for the next take off. Rarely happens though. Take a pic of your wave if you can.

I can surf my G25 2015 with stock ballast only and two people in the boat (NSS 0, NCRS 5, speed 17.5-18.00 km/h). I prefer using a Ronix 1100 lbs bag in the middle of the boat for a bigger wave but my girlfriend prefers the stock ballast only wave which is obviously flatter...
