Board rack damaging my boards - ideas?

The only thing I don't like on my new Nautique vs my old Mastercrafts are the board racks. Bungees aside, my boards (particularly surf boards) are getting marked up by the racks. I am going to start using towels to provide better cushion but anticipate that will look pretty trashy. Any better ideas?

I do miss my clamping board racks.

I had the same issue. I now have mine in board bags (http://www.dakine.com/p/surf/gear-ba...uxe-hybrid-16w) and/or board socks (https://www.etsy.com/market/surfboard_sock) when in the racks to prevent damage.

Same issue here. The radius in the bottom of the fork eats up my boards. Not nearly enough rubber to keep it from getting in the aluminum. I've got 3 surfboards with an edge messed up from a day on rough water cutting across the lake.

I agree it is an issue. I saved the edge protection that came with my wakeboards and use it to protect them. For the surf boards, I'm going to try the foam pipe insulation or a pool noodle to make some protection.

I agree on scratching things, how do you prevent this? I like old FCT sturdy racks but they scratch boards. One season and board looks like scratch pad.

We use a surfboard bag and keep it in the boat. Pool noodle was too thick. Going to try pipe insulation this weekend. Another thought was to clamp a Thule or Yakima surfboard rack to the tower. Not sure how that would look, but they are the clamp type racks against the board.

How many boards can you fit in the bag?

For thinner boards with an eps core and short fins, you might be able to get (2) boards in the bag.

Personally, there is no way I would attempt to fit (2) surfboards that have a polyester core and glass with fins on in one bag. Less ding repair, more rides!

I went with the NSI Garb Tie Downs (http://www.northshoreinc.com/store/p...p?idproduct=71) to the tower and under the bimini to get the board up and out of the way. I have the tie downs run through the shoulder strap loops on the bag and I am able to slide the boards in and out of the bag for use. The bag stays up and out of the way and in the tie downs at all times.

I agree with the comment above about 2 boards in a bag -- dont! We have several glass boards that we use in the ocean and behind the boat. Its nice to practice long board and fish board riding in a controlled environment while listening to tunes! You may get two epoxy or two soft top boards in a bag, but dont put 2 glass. Dents and dings. Not worth it.

I just recently put a cargo net under the Bimini. It looks almost professional. I ran one almost full length then put one towards the rear that is used as cargo net in cars. It created a big pocket.
