    Wake surfing question

has anyone used a soft top surf board for wake surfing. Or one of the smaller boards that you see at the surf shops?

If it is designed to use in the ocean it most likely has the wrong rocker lines.

The ocean waves have way more push than our boats. The boards are shaped with this in mind.

We use ocean boards a lot. Jesutton3 is partially correct. I wouldnt recommend a short board (aka a gun) but a fish or mini longboard is fine. You want less rocker. More rocker turns better but less surface float area. We keep a 5'8 Bing Kharma on the boat. This board has nice rails, flat rocker wide tip and plenty of float. Its a great board to learn on. I also use it in bigger waves in the ocean. Its a blast in bigger ocean surf. A foam top board will also have less rocker with a lot of float. U can find them used for pretty cheap. If you want to surf the ocean and the boat I encourage you to try an ocean board. If a foam top, you dont need wax. If glass top, just use a little wax. You dont need as much wax as you would in the ocean beacuse youre not paddling or sitting on the board. If you want to remove wax, just let it sit in the sun a while and comb the wax off.
