Long time Team Nautique slalom skier Andy Mapple has passed away. I don't have any details on what happened, but this is a sad day for the water skiing world for sure. He was a great guy, and an inspiration to many people, including me.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

Terrible news- way too young. I met him a few times. Great guy.
Never heard a bad word said about him. He was an awesome skier and even better person. So sad.

Very sad day. I met Andy on a few occasions and he was always willing to talk and give advice when asked. Awesome man!! My prayers go out to his family and friends. The watersports industry has lost a true icon. He will ALWAYS be remembered.

I was devastated when I heard of this last night. My wife bought two lessons for me with Andy back in 2005. I admired his skiing and thought he was a great guy. He has been one of my favorites of all time. Prayers for his entire family during this very difficult time.
I remember reading about him in Waterski magazine but I never got to meet him. By chance, I sat next to his driver on a flight and heard lots of great stories. Our prayers are with his family. He will forever be a part of this sport.

The amount of skiers and current boarders who started out our "wanna be" careers watching him and the Coble's ski have inspired not only the individuals, but the entire industry. I never met him, but I've skied many things that have been named after him (ropes, skis, boats), and the grace and touch seems to flow through all of us at some level.
Too young and with a lot left to give. I skied Sunday morning on perfect glass with my best set in the last 10 years. part of him was undoubtedly with me.
