Does anyone know the approximate difference in price between a g21 and a g23? I got a quote on the 21 with the base engine, but I didn't ask about the g23. I know with the 23 I would need the 450 engine, so that would have to be included.

I have learned to avoid it. Took me a few times of being like "what happened??" The first few times I had it out. I mostly get caught on platform launches. Otherwise I can stay back away from it most of the time, being as it is only at the very front of the wave.

A little over $15k difference in 2015 according to the Nautique website.

In in Denver, and pricing the 2016 G23s with the 550hp engine. I'm getting in the mid-$140s. With taxes at 8% here, I'll be ~mid-$150s. This is a loaded boat with almost every option. I'd expect the 450hp to be at least 8-10k less after the dealer markup. If anyone thinks I should be lower, please let me know.

Up here, the difference between the G21 and G23 is about $10k it seems. On resale though, the difference is huge! Seems like the G21s are tough to move.

I guess I will look for the pit tomorrow. Not sure I have ever recognized it as being there. I have only ridden the G21 and agree the wave is steep, but that is kind of fun as well, it can be made more gentle. We have been out with 9 people (college lacrosse players) and did not really feel cramped although a couple were in the bow just chilling.

Normally we ride with 5 and feel positively spacious.

            Go with either I say.

I've never ridden behind a G21 but just comparing them side by side it sure seems the 23 is much nicer in terms of creature comforts. Everything from grab handles to the little drivers glove box makes the 23 nicer. And it really is only a few hundred more pounds to tow. If I was in the market for one it would be hard to not spend the $10k additional and get the 23.

10K is a lot of money. However, now that I see we are talking about mid-100K price tags, if you are spending that kind of money don't let the 10k stop you from getting the 23. On the grand scheme, it is negligible.

What I have learned, I won't ever be able to justify getting another boat. Hard to believe that I got my 2013 G23 450 with lots of options and wetsounds under 100K out the door 3-ish years ago. At that time I thought I was almost crazy. Sounds like a steal now even considering the older transmission.

I have a G23 and a couple of friends have G21s. I'd be very happy with either one. I was originally dead set on the G21 but, after spending some time in both, I was swayed to the 23.

For me, there were two primary reasons. First, I find the wakeboard wake on the G23 to be quite a bit better for me v. the G21. Both have good size and kick, but the G21 is steeper and more similar to the old 210 hull. If you like that extra kick, then the G21 is the ticket. I haven't played with the NCRS to see if we can reshape it.

Second, the additional storage and more room of the 23 were pretty big influences I rarely ride with more than four people or hang in a cove with more than 8, so the G21 would have plenty of room. Nevertheless, IMHO more room is better when hanging out. And the storage configuration on the G23 is simply more convenient.

The pros of the G21 are: 1. significantly easier to store in your garages (though still too big for most), 2. Cheaper.

I was able to get the G23 in my garage (diagonally) and the difference in price ended up not being as large as you might think....so, G23 for me.

I don't surf, so none of that came into the equation....but it could be surfing is better on the G21.

I have spent some time on a g23, but not a 2016. Are the differences in wake and surf very noticeable with the new hull change? My tow vehicle is a Yukon Denali, so I'm a little curious about how that is going to work. Most of the time we go to a local lake that is about 25 minutes away, so probably fine there. We make a 4.5 hour drive to Norris lake 4-5 times per year and that's going to suck, but I don't want a 3/4 ton truck.

I own a G21 and no problems at all. I love compact size and a big difference with my previous 220 in terms of storage and seat config.
When looking at a boat size I jam interested in "seated butts looking backwards" and both G21 and G23 can accommodate up to 8-9depending on butt size (haha..) (bow3, passenger1, bench 4-5) . Remember width is the same in both boats and the only difference is about a 1,5 feet length
Wakeboard: I love the extra kick but you can avoid it by setting NCRS at 3-4
Surf: After several trials I have dialed the following set up for a long stable wake for skim tricks: 1/2 stock ballast, 11 mph, NCRS 3, Ramp 0. I do not use full ballast because the size/ramp tends to facilitate the skim-style fin out of the wake. I guess a surf style board would appreciate it

I had the chance to demo both the G23 and G21 this week. Both were 2015's.

Wakeboarding: Although I'm not the best at this sport, wakeboarding is my passion and I ride at every opportunity that I get. And for this it's G23 hands down! The wake is very versatile and can be smoother if that's what you want, or have crazy vert as well if that's your flavour.

                        G23 wakeboarding
                        - First I tried with no ballast, NCRS@0 which gave a very nice mellow non-intimidating wake for beginners and light intermediates.
                        - Then I went 50% ballast NCRS@3 and 23 MPH. It was perfect! Just the right steepness, so much pop, and the landing zone was very long and forgiving, which is a huge plus for someone with worn out knees like me.
                        - Finally I went to 80% ballast, NCRS@5 and also 23mph. It was as if I was taking an elevator ride at every jump. Coming from a "normal" wakeboat (WS VLX 21') it was just plain crazy. If I ever buy this boat and ride it that way, it'll be a great business opportunity for my orthopedist.

                        G21 Wakeboarding
                        - No ballast, NCRS@0. Noticeably steeper than the G23, fine for a beginner with some experience and a light intermediate.
                        - Next 50% ballast with NCRS@3. Great wake, quite steep. Landings were brutal on my poor knees as the landing zone was much smaller than the G23's so I often landed in the flats - ouch!
                        - Sorry, didn't get to try the more advanced wakeboard setup on this one.

Wakesurfing: I'm really not into surfing, but my daughters and their friends are big time. Surfing will not make or break a deal for me, but if I'm dropping that kind of change on a boat, I would at least want a decent surfing experience. The G23 was amazing while the G21 was somewhat of a disappointment (but with a wildcard that maybe the G21 wasn't set properly)

G23 Wakesurf: Everyone who tried it was blown away by the smoothness of the wake, as well as the length of the wave (or how far back you can ride). It just had soooo much push and everything felt buttery smooth. I think the preferred setting was NCRS@5, NSS@2, 11.2 MPH.

G21 wakesurf: Even our more advanced riders had a hard time surfing the G21. The wake was too steep. And yes, those stories about "The Pit" are true. Mind you, the guy doing that demo probably didn't set up the wake properly, but it was a big letdown for us nonetheless.

At the end of it all, I'm very impressed about the G23. It's already in my dreams as my next boat. The downside about owning a G series though is the whole new set of logistics issues due to their massive weight, which is way over the limit of my tow vehicle (Toyota 4Runner @ 5000lb). Fortunately we live on a lake and the dealer is nearby, so maybe we'll surrender to the luxury of having them drop the boat for us at the beginning of every season. For the occasional road trip we can always rent a F-250 for about 75$ a day. Beats upgrading the SUV!
