    Can't surf down river w/ NSS G23

    Going up river our wake holds great even to 10 ft of water but down river the wave never sets up. I've tried with and without river mode on. Going up river we run about 9.5mph which makes sense since the river flows a little under 2mph in our spot, but once we turn down river we sped up to 12 then 12.5 then 13 then 13.5 and finally stopped at 14 which felt way fast. It's almost like the NSS isn't activating. Any ideas?

    I've never messed with the river mode. The only suggestion I can offer is to be 100% sure that the NSS plate is deploying. It's quite evident when your surfing. if you surf port side you'll see the difference on the starboard side back of boat.

      Matt, you keep posting about surfing a G in 10ft of water. Bad.

      At 13ft I can notice a difference, at 10-12ft it starts to go flat. You need to find 15ft+ water to get into what your boat is capable of.

        NSS won't deploy above a certain speed...I think it's 13mph and river mode unfortunately doesn't change this. So, if you need 11mph to create the surf wave you like and you have a current speed of 2mph or more, NSS will retract before you get to your desired speed whenever to try and ride down current. At least that is my guess as to what's happening. If that's the case you should see a wave starting to form up around 13mph and then go away once you go above 13mph (this is with river mode disabled)

            Most of the area we have to ride is 10-14 but this G is producing a very rideable wave down that shallow which is very nice surprise. Actually we hit one spot at 8 ft and wife was still cruising along. My tige Z1 was done at 10ft so I figured the G would be worse but definitely is not. I am looking foreword to the days we do make our 60 mile trek to one of the 3 rideable lakes in our area to see the real weighted wake.

                It compensates for the water current by adjusting the speed of the boat which uses GPS to keep the boat speed over water constant.

                  Yeah, that is the intent of river mode. But, at least on my 2014 230, the range of speeds that NSS is allowed to deploy doesn't change...it still uses the 'raw' GPS speed. I'll give an example to illustrate.

                  If you enable river mode and set the river current as 2 MPH, then you can set your ZeroOff speed as 23mph and it will do a GPS speed of 21mph when you drive the boat against the current and 25mph when you drive the boat with the current. All you have to do is hit a button to toggle when you are going up current or down current. That all works fine. But, if you are going surfing speeds and using NSS, you can have an issue. The NSS won't deploy if the raw GPS speed is >13mph. So, in the example above, I want to surf at 11mph and I go with the current. So, my display will say 11mph but river mode is enabled with a 2mph current so the real GPS speed is 13mph which means NSS doesn't deploy. I ran into this problem when I was trying to use rivermode to get around a speed calibration issue I was having with the GPS. I guess this way Nautique can better make sure no one runs with NSS enabled at too high of a speed, but it also limits use of NSS when going with the current on a river.
