Anybody have experience slaloming on the 210 Air Nautique? We are serious slalom skiers (recreational) with a new interest in wake surfing. We're willing to compromise on the wake surf but not on the slalom wake. Would we be disappointed? Is this the best crossover boat, or should we be looking at the Sport Nautique?

Sport Nautique is better for sure! But slalom can be done behind the 210 no problem. Minimal passenger load, hydro gate full forward and 200lbs lead right on the nose will surprise a lot of people. Even so i wouldn't say u will love running the course behind one but for recreation free ski it will work just fine.

What year? (and what lake do you go to?)
I tried behind a 2006 210, once, and it did not go well. The wake was rampy, and had a considerable bump (32mph-34mph, no real change).
I ski at 15 off at 32mph recreationally, but have run the course (in my prime with access to one) at 21 off @ 36mph.
We bought the SV-211 due to the ability to slalom a course as well as surf. It takes a good amount of weight to surf it, but I had to have both worlds, too.
Also, worth noting, I'm a picky slalom skier, and bring my own rope to friends houses....

Here is the slalom wake behind a 230. 4 people in the boat. No bow weight. 33 mph. Keep in mind that there isn't,t a pylon on the 210 or 230 so your pulling off the transom.

i have a 2001 SSN/SAN 210. it is fair at best, but far from great. I would rather ski behind my dad's 190 cobalt (6.0 helps), even with the drag getting up, over my boat because the wake is flater and softer. I don't run courses, but love to slalom (and my son is planning to run courses end of this season/early next). I can't stand skiing behind my 230 (and I LOVE my 230 for everything else) at 32 or 24mph and at any length. That said, I am on a Radar Senate, so maybe it would be a little more enjoyable on something big and more flexible. I would be curious what the skier is on behind Seveet's 230, but they are not cutting that hard across the wake and is still getting a sizable bump....so i guess it depends on how you want to ski. My view is that you need to compromise someplace if you are going with one boat - either surf wake is smaller and skiing is good (a good friend has a Malibu in this category), or surf wake is awesome and skiing is rough cutting across the wake (a 230 - i have not been in a 210). Kinda like mt. biking and road biking...you can use either bike to do the other, just not ideal. IMHO

Ski is a Connelly fx1. I agree there is a decent bump. I haven't been behind a formal ski boat, so I can't compare. I hate to say it, but you may want to try out a mastercraft X10. Surf wake was good, ski wake was much better than my boat.

I have a 2012 210 and slalom 15' off at 34mph on a radar senate all the time. The wake is surprisingly good. My neighbor has a 90's 22' tinge direct drive and we both prefer my 210. I love to surf and feel I've got the best of both worlds.
I was going to get a new 210 last year but they removed the pop up pylon when they added the walk through transom. Huge mistake by cc in my opinion. I'll be waiting until they fix the problem before I get another.'18 SAN 210 Reef Blue/Admiral Blue Metal Flake

08 210. I will say these two combos of surf and ski rarely go together. As far as a 210 being a ski machine. As mentioned they ditched the rear pylon on the newer models for the walk through. No on to the wake. I set it up pretty simar to NordicRon. I 280lbs in the bow. Hydrogate all the way forward. For a V-drive wakeboat its wake is manageable. I came from the Mastercraft original Xstar/205v/X1 now for having decent ski wake as a wakeboat. It's just as good as the 210. The problem I run into with the 210 is the spray coming off the boat. I run 15-20off. 33mph. The spray on semi windy days off the boat will catch your for sure. Doesn't feel so good. I ride an HO Triumph 67 so little wider profile, similar to a Radar theory.
I know this is a Nautique site so I may catch a little flack , but as mentioned the X10 is where I would be looking. Much better ski wake and no comprise compared to the 210 surf wake.

You haven't mentioned years or budgets. The 211 was the Nautique crossover but the newer 200 Sport has a better ski wake. The 210 is a wakeboard boat.
And for skiing, I Love the pylon on my 211. Not quite as forward as a DD but still pretty good and it's right behind the seating area so you don't lose your seating when skiing like a DD. If your focus is a good portion on skiing like you've indicated I would start with the 211. And I'm not sure if the 210 has one but the 211 has a ski locker, but I believe you lose it when you have tanks.

Nope, my 211 has tanks, and it still has a ski locker. Note that it is too short to store my 69" dual boot Radar setup (or actually the door is too short, the ski would fit but the boots hit the hinge). My 69" Triumph with dual boot fit but barely because it had rubber boots not hardshells.
As far as ski wake. Long line is fine. 15 off is OK, 22 off sucks, right in the rooster. 28 off is fine. The faster you go the better the wake gets. I skied at 36 MPH the other night at 15 off, and the wake was actually pretty pleasant for skiing. Not anywhere near as small as my usual tug behind a 94 Prostar, but then my 211 weighs 1400# more.
If you do wakeboard/surf and ski, I don't think there is a better boat than a 211.
