    New to the Forums

Hello all! I am new to the forums and new to the CC family. We purchased a 99 Pro Air in August last year and have had a great time with it so far.

One problem that I would like to get some feedback on! I can not control the ballast in the boat. It fills and empties on its own. The pumps work: well I can hear them pumping, but no water is coming out of the boat. Any help here would be appreciated.

    Welcome!

Valve problems maybe? I know some of the models had valves that wern't the right sizes. Not sure about the 99s though. But I'm really not too up on all the ballast systems. Maybe some of the other more knowledgeable guys know.

Nautitwins. I'm almost positive that on that model/year, the water pumps in and pumps out through the bottom of the boat. You would not see it pumping out through the side. The side holes are primarily vents, and I believe also let water out in an overflow situation. BKH

I do know that the boat fills while underway from the bottom of the boat. WHat is bothering me is that, we run on a shallow river and it would be nice to not have the ballast tanks full all the time.

I guess what I really need is the manual to the pumps system to make sure everything is working correctly. Thanks for all your help!

              Hello Jeremy,

I have a 99 Super Air I got last year. My tanks were terrible. Actually, I got so sick of it, I removed them. I would rather have the storage space and use Fat Sacs when I want the weight. I have heard that the older ones were flaky and you needed to update the pumps. I have a bunch of extra check valves, if you find something you can fix in there.
I have an intact drivers side tank, also. I had to take the rotozip to the passenger side......

              tons o' room now !!!

I had a 99 Air, I had the spinning valves just below the thottle which opened and closed the intake for each tank plus a shut off valve in the bilge. I believe one pump ran to fill and another ran to empty, my pumps had to be replaced after 2 seasons. The only way to prevent water from entering the tanks was to close the intake valve in the bilge which should be on the passenger side just after the pickup in the hull (not the engine pickup near the trans), shutting the valves below the throttle only slowed the flow. While running with ballast I kept the valves open when moving, turned on pumps when stopped or closed valves when stopped. The other thing you could do is fill tanks and close valve in bilge which should keep the water in. Try working with it, you should find a solution that works for you.
