Erik, I'ld stop posting here if I were you. Man, these guys are tearing you a new one... for what. I have no idea!

Is the boat over priced? Yes

Is the dealers name on the ad. Yes

Looking at the price of boating from a selfish nature ... sure, drive up the cost of boats and keep the boat traffic down. My boat is bought and paid for.

Looking at promoting the sport, the price of boating is keeping alot of good people off the water. How can the average family justify the price of a Bu, CC, or a MC.

And jonbassham, take a chill pill, dude.

They are tearing me a new one? That's news to me. I thought we were kicking ideas around. I love the banter actually. It is more fun when everyone thinks they're right. And since it is the internet - we all get to play that game.

jonbassham is the only one that really even has a counterpoint. Its all good. It would take a lot more than this thread to get me to stop posting here Wouldn't be as much fun if we all agreed anyway. Plus from where I sit, more have agreed with me in principle than disagreed.

Well, my side comment, and desire, about wanting less boats on the water is irrelevant to the main topic. Actually the entire topic of boating, wakeboarding is irrelevant, its purely economic.

I just don't think you should get too botherd by the fact that you come across a product that, in your very informed opinion, is priced too high as it will work itself out in the end. The only thing that bothers me somewhat is govt. intervention in the free market and to a lesser degree, things like dealer networks which forbid cross-territory buying which will increase the cost of a boat within a particular line.....but again, I have the choice to buy another brand also.

If you get upset, you must have an alternate solution in mind? The free market already assures that either an idiot will pay way too much for the proudct or a "fair" price will be reached in the end. Either way, I'm good with it. I already "vote" on the product's price with my wallet

I look at it this way... price of used Nautiques go up, one can argue that the resale value of Nautiques go up... When prices of USED Nautiques go up this much, I am that much more pleased with my family's purchase and consider the already great deal we got, that much better. So Erik, I agree with you, I think, but now you can say you got that much of a better deal.. ;-) prices change...

Where I boat and when I boat I would say the mix between inboards vs. runaround is about 4 inboards to 1 runabout. There are relativly few jet skis to speak about. But then again, I boat mostly in the ski cove where we all tend to have the same desires, smooth water and we all tend to know how to use the water. The main part of the lake is reserved for the walleys that are clueless, and when I surf.

Also, I have seen the pricing of all boats go up in the last few years. And while I personally don't like the high prices of the inboards and i/o's, I do like the fact it keeps my resale higher. I also don't really believe it is keeping boats off the lakes, the manufacturers seem to sell all they make.

Is $39k5 not more then the new price back in 2000?? I'm with Eric that the price is waaay to much, as more boats at Buxton. But they must be doing something right, because they are selling them and people are happy with Buxton...
It's good to know that the value of our 2000SAN increased $10k last year

No point to make, but you asked. If I recall looking at the boats back in 2000, list price was just under 50 with a trailer. BKH

FYI... the owner has the boat listed himself on Dallasboats4sale.com for $42,750. Its even on the same page as the Buxton listing. Buxtons is 3rd one down and the owners listing is # 17. What is he thinking?

                      Laptom,

BK was a little closer with the price back in 2000 for the Super. I paid 46,500, out the door, w/ Magnum tandem trailer, all options except the big motor (Python), cover and bimini in August of 2000. It was not an ordered boat, but the last Super Air at the dealer. My boat was the EXACT same boat as in the add. Same seating configuration same graphics, tower, everything. They gave me $28,000 on the trade in for my '05 226 Team last February. That boat only had 60 hours on it and you could eat off of the carpet. I am not kidding. This boat was extremely clean. My new daughter really cut back on our usage during that time period. I guess I probably could have gotten 30K to 34K if I tried to sell it outright. I've got a great relationship with my dealer so I took the hit on the trade in but made up for it on other goodies on my new boat and other family boat deals.
Hey - I guess someone's definition of a "Good clean boat" may be the difference between 5,000 or 7,000 more than they should pay.

                      Later,

                      Ken
