    Another G23 weighting post

About to purchase a 2014 G23. Prior boat was a pre NSS 230. So, I would like some feedback on how everyone is weighting the G23 (pre 2016) for surfing.
What size sacs will work best in the lockers when piggy backed into existing system. I was using 750s on my 230.

In my 2014 G23 I use two 750's in the rear lockers (100% full Port side, 75% full Starboard) and two 280's under the bow seats (these really only hold about 200 lbs water in each). I sometimes add 400 lbs lead under the bow cushion as well to give me an even longer wave but this is not necessary.

I have just been using 400#s in both rear lockers and a 750# in the bow. I know guys are running bigger bags but we tried the 750# in the rear locker and it was putting too much pressure on the plastic slide in/out divider between the locker and engine for my liking. I am sure you could reinforce it somehow to keep it from bending.

I put 750's under the bow seats. This allows them to fill up into all of the nooks and cranny's, which is about 350 pounds. 400's under the midship seats, only fill to about 350, and then the Fly High Pro X Series Rear Seat in the rear lockers (650 pounds). The Rear Seat bag is the perfect width, length and height for the G23. It still leaves you plenty of room on top to store a bunch of gear. Lastly I put a 400 pounder on the bow walkway floor (far enough forward that I can still close by pocket door). What ever side we are surfing, I fill up that factory bag full, the belly to 1/2 and the opposite rear factory bag to 1/2.

st68 - do those 750s cause your divider to flex?

What I understand for 2016, the factory ballast holds an additional 1000 pounds not sure how that will effect the need for additional weight.....we keep 1000lb of lead in at all time, mainly for the wake board wake ,,but seems great also for surfing... we have tried additional weight in rear storage for surfing, but no bigger or longer than standard ballast .in everybody opinion(riders on our g23) .. the extra standard 1000lb .sounds great..for 2016...could mean no more lead if I moved up to a 2016...

a little bit but the dividers are pretty thick and I have not had an issue with them. I have seen some other boat maker's dividers and they are pretty thin where they busted through and had to be reinforced... not on the G23 and it only bends a little.

Factory ballast is still 2,850 for 2016.

Personally i prefer to use only stock ballast. Adding more ballast has made transfers more difficult in my experience.

Yeah, don't know where you got that info on the extra 1000lbs...but that's inaccurate. It's the same as previous years.

The dry weight is a few hundred pounds higher. But ballast remains the same.

I thought i read on here somewhere it was an extra 500lb worth of fiberglass due to the hull change.
