    Sorry guys--226-DIY NSS

So there are a TON of posts about DIY surf systems. There are several that mention a 226. I've looked through the entire DIY section and over 50 pages of general discussion. Nothing for the 226. Anyone have the link/links to this thread/threads?

As an owner of a 226, I've wrestled with a DIY Surf System. As I see it the main impediment is the stepped hull. Could make a removable wedge fitted to the hull.

I tried a diy surf gate on my 226 a couple years ago, see thread below. I ended up learning to surf goofy so this effort was put on hold. I may start a new diy effort and have a new idea I want to try out. However, from my last effort, the problem I need to deal with first is prop wash see posts 18 - 26. If I can minimize the prop wash, I can then slow the boat speed and clean up the wake. It is very doable.

We dont have a huge prop wash issue, but also surf goofy. Either side is good at about 11 mph, rear ballast full for surfer side other tank empty and 400 lb fat sac across back. Belly ballast is maybe 1/2 full.

For me, the prop wash is only an issue when trying to surf regular.

Surfing goofy is fine with starboard full and belly half full and 1 person sitting on the back corner. With 2 or 3 people and the belly full, the goofy wave is awesome.

I built one last year. My plan was/is to rebuild it using HDPE plastic, but I haven't gotten around to it. Probably will do once this rots. Here's a link to my original post with picts: http://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/fo...autique-226-le

Add a getto flap to fix the prop wash on the 226 regular side. It works great. I used 3/4" horse mat for mine. There are many articles on this on wake world. I use a custom 1000lbs bag in place of the port hard tank, belly full and a custom 175lbs bag in the bow if there is only a couple of people onboard. https://vimeo.com/142969994

                  Interesting....

What are the dimensions of the flap?

Any pics of the wake with and without?

Does it work for both sides port and starboard?

Any pics of the wakes for each side?
