Fall Surfing Behind The New 2016 G23

Long time lurker here, decided to make an account to post my new video here to show off the 2016 G23 and so I can become more active and post in different threads.

Very nice. We just picked up a 2016 G23 after a 2014 G23. Loved the '14, but the '16 is even better. Know you ride for Phase 5, and Nautique also? We ride Phase 5 boards as well, but not like you. Thanks for sharing.

      Zach,

Welcome to the forum and thanks so much for sharing that great video. I wish I could do half the things you do with little effort.

Sweet video thanks for sharing. It's going to be along winter waiting for my 2016 G23...

Why were your speed and surf settings? When I rode behind demo 2016 G23 we had a hard time getting the port side wave to clean up.

Hello Live to surf, Clearly Zack would be a much better resource, however for what it's worth we tried many different setups on our '16 G23, ballast here and there like we would have on our '14 G boat, but then emptied everything and hit the wake surf button. The boat filled evenly, 100% all three tanks, NSS at 0, NCRS at 5, and the wake was awesome. About the same size as in Zack's video, not huge, but tons of push and very long. Really nice not to have to mess around with sacks! We surf on the port side and it cleaned up very quickly.

Thanks Thomas. We were doing the same and speed 11-11.3.

I surfed earlier in day with dealer and wave was great! Comparing stock to stock the 2016 wave was better than 2014. I will likely not add any extra ballast to 2016 most of time now whereas in my 2014 I wanted a little more weight for not push.

We took the boat out later without dealer and port wave was not clean. In the end my friend who was driving had switched the NCRS intensity to high from low and dealer says he was pulling me at low. Didn't get a chance to see if this was true.

Hello Live to Surf, As mentioned, we set up at 100% all three tanks, NSS 0, and NCRS 5, (this is the factory surf setting) and like you set speed at 11.3. We surf on port side just like you. Haven't had more than 5 people total in boat and it is phenomenal. Extra ballast on the port side seems to create a shelf in the wake and makes it worse. Another thing worth mentioning, if we get in an area where the depth is less than about 9.5 to 10 feet the wake becomes smaller, not as defined, and has less push. Can't tell you how much we love this new boat, Nautique hit a home run.

The depth issue is universal. True on pretty well any surfing setup that creates a large wave, no matter the brand or model. Some of the water displacement off of the bottom of the lake will goof up any bigger wave.

That was a terrific video, well produced. That one will sell boats. Every dealer needs that playing on a screen in their showroom.

Is your tower grey or anthracite? Ordering a boat with very similar colors and can't decide on black or anthracite.

                      Thomas,
Congrats on the new G! I agree, the new 16 wave/all around boat is unreal. I'm extremely thankful to have been able to ride for Nautique this summer and represent such an awesome boat.
Stoked to hear that you guys are riding P5. I have been very lucky to get to know Drew and the Smetts family; Phase 5 is such a great company.

Hopefully this will help you clean up both sides of the wave.
We fill up everything 100% with NO extra weight. NSS 0 and NCRS 3. I choose three if it's just my dad or girlfriend on the boat driving, but if there is more people I will take it down to 2 or 1. I should also add that since I'm a skim rider and started to progress on a smaller flatter wave (before we had a nautique) that I prefer the wave not as steep as some people like Drew Danielo or Noah Flegel.
It still blows my mind that with this boat, we need no extra weight at all to create such an amazing surf wave and wakeboard wake.
                        Hope this helps

Thank you, I put a lot of work into this video and I'm glad you and othersf enjoy it.
Its been something I had been planning all summer for Nautique and was able to make it happen without having to hire anyone.
