I am looking into buying a '92 Ski Nautique and was wondering if there is an hour meter on just some of these or all of these boats. The reason why I ask is that the seller says it doesn't have an hour meter and I find this unusual seeing how I always see earlier models and also boats of the same year with the hours advertised. Could someone please verify this for me? Thanks

The hr meter could have been moved. I've seen them by the drivers seat kind of hidden from view and also back in the engine compartment. If there were other guages installed after ie air/water temp it can be moved to another location.

I really don't see the big deal on hour meters. I mean a boat with a bunch of hours that is well taken care of would be much better than a low hour boat that was abbused. My dad has a 79 invader with an 81 evenrude outboard. I have no clue as to how many hours are on the engine, and it has had just about every part replaced at one point or another (power head due to bad fuel causing carbon buildup on the piston and thus causing a piston to melt, lower unit numerous times due to driver error by hitting debris in the water and once a cub scout put it in reverse while the boat was moving 25+ MPH, too many props to count, etc...) Then there is the interior, he had the floor replaced due to a battery that exploded and ate the carpet and rotted the plywood floor.
I think there are way more items that are more important than just how many hours are on an engine. Especially since the hour meter can be disconnected, and reconnected so easy on the early models.
My maintenance plan it to change the fluids every year regardless of the hours, now if I was using the boat for competition or teaching, then the schedule would be more rigerous, but most people won't put enough hours on a boat a year to need more than one oil change.
