G owners - Insurance, how much are you paying per year?

I'm currently paying $600 per year for my 210 with WestMar insurance. What are you G owners paying? I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on a G and would like to know how much more will I need to pay in insurance...
    Thanks!

        Careful with these cheapie rates:

Some require 5-6 month winter layup

May not cover gear or stuff n the boat

Give no coverage from windstorms or floods

        Don't cover for replacement value

        Don't cover any freeze damages

Only cover in the very minimum in the different categories

If you get decent insurance that doesn't play games with caveats in all these ^^^^ categories you are into 8-900$+ for quality insurance.

Maybe I'm paying too much, but I pay $1,100 year with progressive. Got a another quote too and it was the same.

And what's bad is unless you dig deep into the details on these specific areas... Chances are you aren't covered.

Then consider medical limits, liability and comprehensive coverage of your boat.... Those limits and whether or not your policy covers uninsured folks damaging you or injuring your folks.

In all reality.... What does anyone think $10-$25k Max will cover in medical bills? A trip to the ER?

For the amount of time we spend in our boat... And just the risks involved, retards runing up on us when surfing, jet skis, just someone diving off into shallow water..... I am x2 to x4 minimums in every category and all these crap caveats boat insurance companies get away with to keep rates down covered. I hate writing the check yearly.... But 3-400$ more a year to know EVERYTHING is 100% covered and covered well...worth it IMO.

NYRYAN has it right.... I can't believe people are only paying $500-600/yr for a 100K plus boat. I was paying that 5 years ago for a 230 TE (about 65K replacement value - meaning if it disappeared or sunk or burnt up or damaged bad, I get a check for actual agreed value..... If you can afford a 100K boat, you should be able to afford a few extra hundred for more than adequate insurance.... imo

Shag....not sure what you are talking about when you say "adequate". I'm with Progressive and paying $671 for a 2015 G21. Everything that needs to be covered is well covered with my policy. I wouldn't call it inadequate. Could it be more coverage like nyryan outlines above...sure...you could go up to a million if you feel you need to. Now...I got a quote from State Farm for the G...who I have my home and autos with....$1400 for the year.....JUST because the horsepower is 409. I told them it does 82 mph....she just laughed. She said...yeah....it's hard to beat Progressive and others on the boat coverage.

Doesn't it vary quite a bit with where you live?

For me the cost of insurance is all about the risks you want covered, the liability you want to accept yourself and the companies reputation for claim settlement.. I'm more concerned about liability risk than my property coverage. Minimum medical $300k and umbrella coverage on top of that. I would move to a $5k deductible but the premium drop isn't worth it. Figure out what risk you are willing to take, get quotes and do some research on the company. It's something to do in the off season.

We pay about $750 per year and that includes $135K in replacement cost and upper limits on medical and such. I'd also suggest you all look at an umbrella policy too. They are inexpensive, $450 per year, for $1Million on coverage which covers home, auto boat etc. One accident can easily max out $300K in medical real quick.

I asked my dealer about insurances when I purchased the boat. I was only paying $280 for 2005 210, then when I went to G23 I wanted to make sure I was covered. The dealer said that he had not seen any issues with Safeco. I have $10k equipment replacement, $300k Liability Bodily Injury and Property Damage, $300k Bodily Injury for Under and Uninsured, $500 towing. With the Liability and Bodily Injury, I also carry an additional $1.0M through umbrella policy for $273/ year on all my vehicles and property.

Who are good companies to look at umbrella policies through? Do these policies cover property, or just injury?

It seems to me that prices vary state to state. I have used Boaters Choice withe the G23 since we took delivery. the dealer prepared the quote and beat all of my quotes that I had found.

I've never seen a boat policy that did not cover property and bodily injury. I "think" states impose certain levels and types of coverage.
