Engine choice 2016 210?

I'm a bit undecided how I should order the base is the 343, for additional $3k upgrade to H5 355, or base plus $8k for the H6 450.

Boat won't be slammed, likely stock hard tanks plus 550 sacks in the back 6 adults surfing and cruising on big lake, several 30 mile trips in a year. Leaning towards the H5 just to have the newer technology and better fuel mileage. Opinions appreciated as this will be my first San after four mailibu's.

I agree with the H5. Newer technology, MUCH better fuel economy, and more torque (which is more important than HP). H6 will be overkill in that boat for your application.

We have the 343 in our 210 and have 750's over stock in the rear and a 370 lb tube sac in the ski locker and have no issues. We are at sea level and don't run high speeds often but the boat has handled everything we have thrown at it.

I had the 343 in a 2009 230, and never really had an issue. Weighted down with a decent amount it still seemed to perform well. IMO the 343 is tried and true... But you can't argue with more torque.

Thanks for the feedback H5 it will be, proping will be next challenge, search function gave me 1235 as best performance choice over the 1579 but sounds like 50/50 whether hull will get a prop burn. Might try a 14 X 14.25, My spare is an old oj stainless 14x16 but never surfed the boat I had that on (03 vlx).

The Acme 1617 was the prop just under the 1235 in diameter for the older engines. Not sure if it's the right choice for the newest engines. I would confirm it with the experts, but for the 07-15 the 1617 is the most aggressive you could get without jumping to the 1235. I run the 1617 and it is way better that the 1579/1465/1433

Yup that's impression I got from searching the 1617 people like with the 343, not sure how the h5 will respond it's a bit revier motor by the looks of the dyno charts.

In a SN200 application, the H5 performs pretty similar to the prior 6.0, so I think you'll be very satisfied with it in a 210. FWIW, the promo guys I know, who previously bought 6.0's, are going H5 in '16.
